How small are your legs that they fit in your arm holes?

Ha ha. You are really pushing for a photo eh ; ) My track career was short lived and I was only ever a pursuiter, not sprinters legs!

Normally you’d have to go to my Only Fans for this content…

Premiere of TTW. I think its live. Bugger. Im going for a ride.

Put your normal pants back oooooooonnnnn

Mid-poop on the Renegades Muster.
305 kms on day 1. I got 2.5 hours sleep : (
Rain for the first 185 kms.

Lots and lots of mud today, only 175 kms.
Barely half way. Splashed out on a motel tonight as we are not sure our bivvys are up for a cold night.

Forget to mention, on the first night, the young dude in front actually lost his bike while trying to ride through a ford. They found it the next day.

There was also a course re-route the next day because a bridge got flooded out.

Things didnt go 100% as planned for me this year. 96 riders turned up. The event is still on now, but about 35 have already dnfed. Many with gastric issues. We did encounter a lot of animal poop and mud on day 2 so maybe that’s it. I struggled to eat anything much from day 2 on so ended up carrying 1.2 kgs of food just incase I could face it. I couldn’t. Its a stupidly hard course. I wont be doing it again, with so little prep anyway.
Mistakes I made.
Riding for the first 2 days with faster guys, which I think tipped me into gastric distress. My problem for not putting in the training, or insisting that I ride alone, which I did try to insist. Trying to match them on the climbs with a wide range cassette. I was always just between gears. Taking a bivvy sak instead of a tent. Dumb. You can sleep anywhere with a tent, but if temps are low, you really need some good cover for a bivvy sak. I slept in a toilet block in a domain in the wops on my last night and my new Rab mat was the bomb. The last day was really hard work, only really sipping coke and a bit of juice for the last 16 or so hours. I barely took any photos. Got full-on bali belly now for sure.
Edit: First finisher was on a singlespeed.

It was a sweet ride the first time I did it in 2022, just felt hard this time with the rain, the mud and the nutritional issues. The highlight came on the last day when I pulled over to avoid a woman herding a large group of stock with baby calves through. She asked me how I was going and I said a bit shit. She insisted I call in at their farm around the corner where her and her husband made me a cup of hot tea and brought out home baking and bananas! I managed to get a bit of hot tea in me and half a banana. It really helped. That and the fact that the miles and miles of undulating gravel climbs had actually finished. Normally that would be my happy place!

losing a bike in a ford is a pretty awesome story

He was apparently a really fit young guy, he’d already smashed out 300 kms in the rain, stopped at the shearers quarters for a quick resupply and took off again. I am not sure if he had any previous bikepacking experience. Apparently it was hip-high and he foolishly tried to ride it. I wonder if the farmers there may have lent him some clothes so he didnt freeze.

So the follow up to my poopbarning dysentery has been interesting. Went to Dr. 70$, nothing to do really except take the sample poop-jar and drop it off at lab whenever. By the time I drove home another health professional had rung and interviewed me for 50 mins wanting to know everywhere I had eaten and drunk for the length of my poopbarn. Dropped off the jar saturday morning. No charge. Tuesday I get a call to say I have yersinia. Never heard of it. Its related to the plague but mostly picked up via animal shit and poorly cooked pork. I get a text saying please fill in this form with all your werabouts food consumption etc for the previous 3 days before getting dysentery. Luckily there was only really a handful of resupply places so it wasnt a major.

Anyway. Long story short. NZ has this reputation as a clean green country but the reality is that most of our money comes in via farming and as soon as you get into out of the way farm land you are riding through shit and smelling dead animal carcasses every 5 mins. I noticed it last time I did this ride too. You never really see the bodies but you can sure smell them.
