Did you just ShartQ?

Just remember that these bikes still exist.

Okay but I’m doing this for y’all’s enjoyment bc this is clearly an embarrassingly mild bit of singletrack

I bet that spot would feel easier if you made sure you had the bars on straight

this pattern on the end is absolutely a paint crack - the steel wouldn’t fracture in this pattern. But there’s really no way to tell from this photo if the steel underneath is cracked as well.

seconding this. Paint’s already kinda fucked in this area and is going to start flaking off anyway, might as pick some of it off with a razor blade or xacto knife and see what the steel underneath looks like.

Remove cracked paint inspect metal underneath. A sharp blade works well to get into the crack and help chip/flake away the paint. Some nail polish will seal it up when you’re done to prevent rust.

Lmk if you need further explanation.

did you reenact this for our benefit?

I think the important lesson here is that there is no such thing as a forever bike.

Agree. I doubt it’s actually cracked. I would also definitely contact the manufacturer and at least try and see if you can get a deal on a replacement. Also you’re definitely not gonna die riding it. You’ll feel it go noodly first. So if all of a sudden you’re riding and things feel wiggly. STOP look at it and get a bus/ride home. I broke a TT and DT when I was like 13 from too many jumps and it rode fine until I was like a block from my house and I was like “whoa this feels weird all of a sudden” look down and there like 2 little bits on the top and down tube holding the head tube on.
