Did you just ShartQ?

Centerlock can move a little, as a treat.

That sounds like your lockring isn’t tight.

You’ll want to use a wrench with a long handle. Those Knippex are probably half as long as you need.

What do I do with old kit I don’t wear any more? A few years back I heard about a place that would take it and distribute it to people in poorer countries which I gather now was Africa Kit Appeal, but it does not seem to be operating any longer.

First makes a bunch of rotating stuff for us, for yeeeears. They are good people. We found the only issue with the ebb, is that you may need a 36+ tooth chainring. We found that a 34t boost flipped inward rubbed the bb cup.

I foolishly bought this 16ā€ bike for Roli’s 3rd birthday. It was way too big for him and it still is. I cut three inches off the seatpost so it could be fully slammed, but he still can’t put a foot down with his butt on the saddle. He’s ready for a pedal bike and can pedal and use the handbrake effectively. The problem is when he comes to a stop, he falls over because he can’t put a foot down.
Should I:
A.) just wait till he gets bigger and make him keep using the push bike. This option will shortly lead to him being mad at me. I think he has like two weeks before he insists on a pedal bike.
B.) buy a 12ā€ woom
C.) Shang some fuckin training wheels on there. I know everyone thinks they’re evil but they would solve the problem of tipping over when stopping.

Do this and sell it for 80% of what you spent on it once he’s big enough for the 16ā€

No training wheels ever !

Option D: buy a set of 12" wheels for current bike, but may lead to serious pedal strike issues. Just get the woom or islabike or similar.

I had not seen any 12 inch pedal bikes until this thread suggested they might exist… I did not see one from woom, but clearly has one… Ira is right on the edge of fitting a 14 inch… But it might be heavy and frustrating for him. I want to let him just shred on his 12 inch as long as possible.

Get this for cheaper than the woom or clearly instead b/c it is sick.

Now that I’m looking, the smallest woom pedal bike is in fact 14ā€. I gotta measure that kid if he’d ever stand still for a second.

Would a Tiny 12ā€ wheel BMX work?

do not pass Woom, pay your $400, sell for $300 when he’s done.

or find one on facebutt marketplace or wherever and sell it for what you paid.

Should I attempt to remove and replace this corroded bolt or should I just YOLO?

Any opinions on folding locks vs u-locks?

I don’t need anything crazy, just a lock for quick runs to the grocery store. I’ve been using one of those Ottolock strap locks which is fine security wise and fantastically compact but is kind of a pain to use. I want something keyed that’s easy to deploy and remove.

I’m leaning towards a basic u-lock but also don’t know what size to buy. Lots of racks around here are the ~4" tube variety.

Get an Abus Bordo Combo 6100 and free yourself from bike lock keys and the tyranny of a rigid shackle!

It may be ā€œless secureā€ than a U lock but the way I see it, all bike locks are just a deterrent. If someone wants to steal your bike, they can, no matter what kind of lock is on it.

honestly yeah the combo is great. it’s really nice to be able to lend a lock out to friends/visitors/etc without worrying about the key. my partner has the bontrager folding version of that lock and it works fine

Does anyone still use one of those aluminum u-locks that were Tarck Choice for a minute? I’m still using my ancient Krypto but those always appealed for their light weight.

i use a rockymounts equivalent. looks more like a ā€œrealā€ u-lock. i love telling a friend ā€œhey check out this sweet u-lock i just gotā€ and tossing it to them
