but the enve compression plug and use it instead
my roommate has one on his drop bar bike and seems to like it. they look handy, especially as a bag support, but the angle they tend to rest at drives me crazy
Is there a specific 1x version of this crank? The one I just bought 2nd hand has a N/W sprocket, but it has bolts for a second ring. FC-M8000.
Extra nomenclature, SS NL is on the drive side and bg NL is on the non drive side. Also 1RLNJ232868 on drive side.
From what I remember the 8000-1 and 8000-2 are the same, just different rings
So the crank design just allows for a chain-ring with more or less offset you reckon ?
The 1x ring is sort of fat and offsets all inwards while the 2x sits outwards a bit
@EndpointBraden Did you ever get those SwissStop Rotors? How are they?
Remarkably unremarkable. Which is good.
Which ones? There’s like a commuter and a race version?
I have some 6bolt ones in my bin
Does anyone know where I might purchase an 11 speed SRAM ROAD shifter ratchet? I can buy a 12 speed one from Ratio but right now would rather stay with 11 speed and not have to convert all my wheels to XD, assuming I even can. I’ve been looking for dead ones in bins, to no avail.
I’ll trade you
I have some 11 shifters
What can I swap you !
A 12s ratchet?
Is there a cycling glasses thread? I need some RX glasses and would like something with a lot more wind and rain protection than my normal every day glasses.
I might order some of these dorky things from Zenni unless there’s a reason not to or a good reason to get bike jock glasses
i have an iteration of those as safety glasses. they fuck with my peripheral in a way i would not love on a bike
One of the optometrists in the area that also supports the bicycle racing organization sells Rudy Project glasses. You can do in-frame or inserts.
I switched over to Rudy for better coverage a couple years back. I was getting pretty bad dry eye from my Smiths.
Does anyone have strong opinions about GoPro best practices? I’m guessing that the most stable images will come from helmet mounts?
- Depends on light and level/# of gopro with their stabilization.
- But, yes, helmet is good, because head acts as gimbal, given your helmet doesn’t bounce a bunch. Chin mount on full face is best for visuals, since it is lower than anything on top of helmet.
- But really strapping down the chest mount in good light can still look good most times. The strapping down, like really tight, because gopro is cantilevered out there and can bounce about if not controlled for.
I’ve got a skate style helmet that’s a nice tight fit, and it’s got one of those buckle clip cleat plates on top that I use for a light that has a standard GoPro tab thingy. I also 3d printed a chin mount for my old Bell Super 3r, but I rarely wear the chin bar. Will have to do the Pepsi Challenge with them.
I’ve had good luck with Revant Optical based in Portland. If you have a donor frame from a brand they support, you can send it to them for in-house Rx lenses at a lower cost than Oakley or Rudy.
