Did you just ShartQ?

let’s say someone had a slightly dented (on top tube) coffee grinder for sale with mostly still good ultegra. just needs new(er) cable disc calipers and a front wheel (QR). would your price-sensitive buddy be interested in this?

The assembly quality on those State bikes are pretty awful. If someone buys one they should immediately replace the brake housing with compressionless, put the shifters where they actually belong on the bars and throw the stock tape in the trash. We’ve also had to rebuild several of their wheels after chronic spoke failures. The Sensah parts are pretty MEH and seemingly not the same generation as the ones @igor is slinging. Crank is nice tho and 44mm headtube means fork upgrade path is better.

Fwiw the Poseidon bikes are put together better out of the box and need less attention besides better brake housing.

The Nicasio+ bikes we’ve sold have all been pretty bullet proof. Only real Achilles heel is the cheap hubs. But the freehubs don’t blow out super fast like some of the other cheap OEM hubs that are on a lot of bikes now.

Cheap crank is cheap but replacement rings are not that hard to source.

The most common upgrades to those we’ve made are tubeless tires (stock rims are good to go) and replacing the stock BB with Shimano if it wears.

Nicasio 2 is a great bike. Out of the box the only issue is the cheap crank (replace with RX600 when the rings wear out) and the fact the cable housing and hydro hoses will be way too long.

that’s a sick deal but unfortunately i think his one bong limit is pretty firm. i might end up buying a bike for “me” EP via the cop bike company because he did work at the same company i do for 2+ years and never ep’d a bike

Anyone know if I can buy something like this cheap?

About 2.5 in wide, 3.5 in long. Preferably in 35, 40 and 45 deg. Maybe I will have some made but it’d be nice if some Chinese factory vomited these out for half the price I might pay for materials.

Any recommendations on a front DRL style light? I’m not looking for anything that would allow me to ride in the dark, just something to make me more visible. Best option I’ve seen is the Trek Ion 200 RT but I don’t want to give $65 to CopBikeCo for an LED and a battery.

Would it be a good idea to get a supertall custom stem made and get rid of this weird handlebar hite rite that I never use? Who would make such a thing for me?

You’d be better off with BMX style riser bars with that much steerer tube poking out. ATMO

Maybe something like this. https://www.albes.com/products/s-m-husky-high-mx-bars

Maybe but I’m really enjoying the 60* of sweep on these bars.
Perhaps I could replace the steering tube with a taller one to put the stem in the right spot without the creaky flexy hite rite.
I was thinking something sorta like this but ten inches tall:

The stem that comes on Madsen cargo bikes seems like it would fit the bill but they don’t seem to sell it without a bike attached.

How tall do you need? I was thinking the world of recumbents might have something for you, but they’re likely too tall.

This seems like the kind of thing that will require phone calls, rather than hoping it’s listed on a website. I’d call the Hostel Shoppe and tell them what you’re trying to achieve, they’ve been around long enough that I bet there’s a stem for you back on a random parts shelf somewhere.

Maybe give them a call or send an email? If their address is still the same, they’re close to me and I could relay it if they don’t want to ship.

I was thinking about it they seem like nice folks. Thanks for the offer.

Custom bars also an option.

what about buying a longer 28.6mm tube off the shelf to be the steerer?

I was thinking that would work too since the steering linkage just bolts onto the tube which doesn’t seem to be anything special.

I just emailed Doom Bars about making bars with 10” of rise and 66.6* of sweep.
