Did you just ShartQ?

It’s been long enough, now I’m ordering brake rotors too lol. Guess I’ll probably have to burn the new pads when the rotors l get here

I like hydro discs but man I can’t do any work on them without getting the damn oil all over everything, even when I’m trying to be careful

I’m a big fan of removing the wheel and placing it in a whole different space until I’m done doing the brake fluid things.

I’m a big fan of tossing contaminated rotors straight into the recycling bin because coming back from contamination is 30% at best.

I scrub with miracle red, sand with high grit sandpaper and then clean with isopropyl.
I’ve had good results with that method.

I want to get my geared and single speed cross bikes to put be in just about the same position. The reach measures are within 4mm of each other but the horiz top tube numbers are 10mm different.

If I’ve got an 80mm stem on the longer bike, should I just put an 80mm on the shorter bike b/c 4mm diff reach can’t be fixed with a stem or should the shorter bike have a 90mm stem b/c 10mm shorter horiz TT?

Here’s the numbers:

I used http://www.bikegeo.net/ to change my fit over to my Orbea from the Devinci. It has stem length and angle inputs, which helped me get the bars in the same place.

I plugged the numbers in from Bike Insights and got a ~3 mm difference in reach with a 80 mm, -7 deg stem on both. Red is the Niner and blue is the Charge.

Very cool
Thanks.

Thank you everyone for going on a basic brake maintenance ShartQ journey with me. After replacing the caliper and pads and then the rotor, I now have brakes that don’t rattle or squeal. Funny how that works

My partner wants a drop bar bike with hydraulic brakes. What are the good value options these days? She’s 5’4” so the smaller sizes need to have reasonable geometry.

My partner is happy on a Topstone AL size XS with grx400. Previously was on a size S with Sora and short stem but it got stolen. The hydros are a substantial improvement, we were lucky to find the GRX bike used. It’s really nice for a normie bike

She just bought an aluminum canyon that fits 35s.

I think it’ll be perfect for her needs.

She doesn’t really understand dithering.

maybe the real dithering was the bike she bought along the way

The real dithering will be dealing with any issue that involves contacting canyon

so is this how normal people do things?

The closest sup got to dithering was adjusting and swapping components to match her bike fit

I try really hard not to burden her with dithering. I use this to justify my dithering

Dithering receives a cold reception from SUP and daughter. We spent nearly three minutes in front of the Autozone wall of filters tonight tracking down oil and air jawns and they were OVER IT. I didn’t have the heart to show them the bulb aisle.

Is there a preferred version of compressionless brake housing if I want to buy in bulk?
