Want to use my steel 26 for winter. Is is it worth using Frame Saver on it?
Depends. Do you ever want to get your seatpost out again?
just grease and pulling yearly is sufficiently for that IME
Couldn’t hurt, give it a squirt!
So I bought Pube’s Poopdream Sirius S5, but I have never once wanted to think about suspension. I don’t know if I’ll build 650b Pub rims up or buy a cheapo 29" set of wheels.
The Pipedream specs say 100–120 in 29 inchway, or 120–140 in 27.5 inchway (485-525mm axle to crown or so). How much does swapping wheel size matter to a suspension fork? What fork do I even want?
last time i looked there were literally too many 140mm 27.5 forks for mega discount on the internet. had me wishing i needed one.
also if you went 27.5 you should go 140mm minimum because if i recall that bb is pretty low.
It was totally fine. Nothing horrible, nothing remarkable, fits and works as you would expect.
Thanks. It looks like it’d be a good match for my Marin, assuming the stock struts are long enough.
Coworker was admiring my H/G and was wondering what front rack would fit on the Salsa Warbird.
Carbon fork, probably fender mount on back of fork from looks of photos online.
Get a new fork.
IIRC the Warbird is not rated for a front rack. They even took away the fork crown light mount because people were putting racks to it despite the warnings not to.
Assuming its got a metal steerer you could maybe hack something with a 9/8th Salsa post-lock but a new fork is the better solution.
so many bikes yet so few that actually afford utility for the user

My Black Mountain Road+ is currently rackless but now you’re giving me ideas
It’s not rated for a rando rack. They have the mid-blade through bolts so they can take a low-rider like a Tubus Duo or Tara.
It’s a 10-year old, high-trail bike, so they’re not basket-packing like the cool kids. Probably aiming for the top tube / frame / seat bag crowd.
When was All-City launched? I never paid attention to them, did they have any low-trail bikes? I’d assume they got those.
nope
only surly with some weird geo choices got one.
Alternatively running the crown stay under (or around) the crown would work if “not rated for a rack” means that they’re worried about the rack stripping out a threaded crown mountpoint.
What’s the consensus on spoke prep for wheel building? I used to use anti-seize, then got convinced to use loc-tite. The last wheelset I built for my mtb I ran out of both and scraped resin from a bowl.
I’ve only ever used 3-in-1 oil on the nipples which is probably bad. I never said im good at wheels, but I’ve never broken a spoke either?
