Cut a tube up and put that around the expander. Like condom style not how you would wrap with bacon.
interestingâŚ
Iâd tried beer can shims but they werenât thick enough.
Is it just spinning because it isnât getting friction on the walls? If an expander canât expand enough to grab the walls that seems like a bad sign?
Yeah. The I.D. is definitely larger than normal. Itâs a steel steer tube so the wall doesnât need to be as thick. The last starnut I got was supposed to be slightly larger to compensate.
Between the shake and the cable housing
Lol well I sure didnât put it there!
Years ago, flat bar road bikes werenât quite a thing yet, so I pieced one together for my wife. I just swapped her tires from 23s to 28s, and the rear tire is buzzing the pusher. Anyone know which bottom pull 3x9 mtb crank compatible one I could swap in? Current one is an ancient LX.
has your crown race seat been cut/faced and your headtube reamed and faced?
Neither, that I know of. Likely everything was factory spec when I received it (from Ray, I think? Sorry if Iâm incorrect. Iâm bad with names.). The crown race pulled off by hand if that is any indication of anything.
The newer stuff like this is a bit more low profile. Something like an Altus M313 may do the trick.
Unless youâre a precious dweeb like us and need needle bearings (Token, Miche, etc), or youâre a MUSA dipshit (Chris King, now White Industries), than this is basically the only headset anyone needs.
The little raised part fits comfortably into the groove of any modern Shimano shifter.
Dq: how do you folks feel about herse nerd cranks on carbon Bikes?
The same way I feel about cantilevers on a full suspension mountain bike. Itâll work in theory⌠but why?
I guess it depends on the BB situation, but generally silver shit on carbon bikes looks ugly (with many obvious exceptions). If itâs any kind of pressfit BB and modern bike, youâd be silly not to get the FSA or Easton subcompact, which will do the same thing as the Rene Herse without requiring some horrible kludge and is probably lighter.
Itâs BSA
I dunno, if you had an old Trek 5200 with a silver Dura Ace post and a Nitto stem and shit, I could see the Rene Herse crank really working. If you tried to put one on a modern Tarmac (which is also BSA threaded), then youâre just a goober.
Cool. Works with bottom pull?
Agreed, if thereâs shiny bits else where fineâŚbut a Sugino nerd crank would look better to me.
