True hexavalent chrome plating is dead and gone, what we’d be getting on bike parts is nickle coating. Which sadly isn’t as hard or as good as chrome, and can flake off like you’re seeing. Totally a cosmetic issue, but one that would bum me out none the less.
How much of the grub screw sticks out?
Has anyone seen any spy photos in the new dura ace? Is it using the UDH?
4.5mm each side at the fore/aft ends, 5.5mm in the centre
pins are 25mm long and the platform ranges from 14-16mm thick
Thanks. Ordered a pair and will probably install some shorter pins.
Re: chain chat
The universe was speaking to me at the discount section of the grocery store . Degreaser and paraffin:
Dear Tarck Bike,
I’ve been working on my bikes a lot lately and I have all these short lengths of bicycle chain left over. What should I do with them? It feels wrong to throw them away. Once, I made a keychain out of some spare track links.
Your pal,
Jan from The Spoke-n-Word
Save them up until you have enough for a new chain!
And then attach one end to your wallet ant the other end to your pants.
Don’t forget to strip and wax it first.
what’s in the middle?
It’s a piece of tiger’s eye my partner gave me. Her family business is selling pretty rocks.
@paris I’ve got almost a third of an 11s chain.
Artisanal chain whips!
These are cool, Andrew Major does a similar thing where he makes Christmas ornaments like this using roached cogs.
When I was a kid, my bike mechanic older bro made me a bracelet out of a section of used chain. Don’t do this, it’s not very comfortable.
Used bits of chain are for securing saddle rails the seatstay.
I used to make keychain fobs out of the remnants.
@BicyclePears Who built your Jones’ wheels?
Cascadia Wheel Co
I am considering a Soma Wolverine, but I’d want to run my Jones bars on it. What flat bar levers do I pair with which flat mount calipers?
