Sorry, i shoulda just saif handlebar clamp width. yes 26 is fine. The gino isn’t quite right, i want something that goes on my rack strut like the nitto lamp bracket does.

Because it’s very possible for a brake to feel too stiff. Modern caliper brakes have engineered the compression of the housing into the design of the calipers. Someone could probably easily adjust for it, but it’s not how it’s designed to be used. There are some other technical problems, as well, such as that this sort of cable absolutely requires a ferrule, and no high quality calipers even accept one.

And as for the stiffness, it’s such a problem on tight bends that the cable kits come with these pieces to increase the flexibility.

I’ve had and also seen road setups with compressionless housing that was too stiff and pushed the steering off centre, so setup either needs to be perfect, or some more flexible housing needs to be used for some/all of the setup

for hydraulic hose, Shimano specs a milder version for most road uses

the most compressionless version is reserved for Saint

I’ve got some Saint hoses on my Rick Jones (wanted the gold end pieces). Don’t notice steering issues but they sure don’t match well with smaller calipers atmo. My friend said the opposite and now I’m stuck with discs that feel like road calipers until I feel like changing them.

I don’t want to speak for Fred, but I believe he’s referring to the lever feel and not the steering issues. Those are, in my experience, entirely related to compressionless housing on road bikes.

There’s always link housing. Compressionless, bends easily, comes with ferrules that fit the caliper.

Are there theft-resistant thru axles? I’ve found the Robert Axle Project but to me it seems like they’re just normal TA with a steel insert to allow for a magnet. Which I guess I can’t knock so much because magnets is how I secure almost everything on my work bike.

But still, anyone heard of such a thing?

I looked into it awhile ago and the Robert Axle w/Hexlock were the only ones I found. I settled on just using the PMW hex-head TAs.
