Did you just ShartQ?

What about the Ritchey headset with built in hangler?

If anything, you could hang a Surly hanger on a bolt replacing the barrel nut.

what’s a good tubeless cx tyre for funticipation? 28 or 30

Yes. Building a front is a great way to start. I nearly built one again myself but am going to get my work union to pay for it now, cos I can.

I’m in Toronto, what’s up?

I spend an hour at work yesterday figuring ERD and doing the spoke calculations. Hubs and spokes ordered so hopefully I can start on it this weekend.

I’ve never had big problems with something like spokecalc, but others may disagree. Doing the trigonometry in my head is beyond me

The ripmo has a 65ish degree HTA though… That’s quite slack

Fred said it clearer maybe?

65ish is less slack than it might have ended up without the offset change

what happens at 60?

They’ve gone too far.

that sounds like something we should be striving toward.

You all of a sudden need some ape hangers and a “for novelty purposes only” half helmet with an iron cross on it in order to go ride. And your bike spends more time on a trailer than the trail.

you’re legally required to have a Fu Manchu, remove the sleeves from anything you ride in, and your Bluetooth speaker will only play Sammy Hagar from now on

Shartq: out of curiosity how do the Chinese carbon open mold frames compare with something from a brand name like Giant, Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, etc?

They probably do their job pretty okay, with lower grade material than their brand name originals. I’d guess a fair bit of added weight to the frame, more flex, pretty bad QC and generally no guarantee?

If you don’t have the $$$ for brand carbon I’d buy aluminium for sure. They would probably be lighter than the open mold stuff…

Yo I was talking to a friend about a jerb there and just wondering how liveable/expensive/frozen tundra hellish it is?? Coming from the tropic of Capricorn

In terms of liveable it’s pretty great if you’re anywhere in the core or near the subway line. Transit is ok, there are lots of bike lanes, great bar and restaurant scene, it’s pretty sweet.

In terms of expense is where we run into serious problems. Housing out here is really really fucked up to the point we are in the top ten cities in the world for expensive housing. The market is really really bad and it’s causing a lot of secondary problems like our music scene is getting choked out because venues are getting torn down for condos, a lot of the fun arts stuff is also getting chased out for the same reason and it’s getting gentrified pretty badly. I’m pessimistic enough about the liveability of the city near term that I’m looking to relocate as are a lot of younger people I know. That said, if you’re being offered a rich tech bro job you’ll do ok and our tech industry is really blossoming.

As for frozen Tundra, it’s not so bad. Winter is damp and cold and filthy because the snow all turns to melted salt mush so for a few months it’s pretty grim looking, but it’s not bone chilling cold like some places I’ve been. We only get maybe a week or two that the temperature is below 0F or -20C

@Andrew_Andeson depending on the geometry and such, another option might be to set your centerpull up direct pull style e.g.
