Sometimes I’m amazed at how little I think about this.
I’d have to ride my bikes more to have corrosion
i’m so glad i ditched my dub cranks/eagle group for all xt 12 speed.
30t with the 51 in the back is a dream on the climbs.
my only regrets.. trading a coworker and ending up with a drive side power meter. i do all my descending right foot forward (turning on the gyroscope features seems to have eliminated the major power spikes, but ive seen a couple suspect ones). and had to ditch my chain guide that i just got. then again, maybe i only needed it becuase my chain kept falling off on my sram cranks. haven’t lost a chain yet on the shimano set up though so i guess it’s going alright.
I was going to do this but since I couldn’t even budge the damn lock ring I figure there isn’t noise happening there.
You know, this is going to end up being the issue after replacing/reinstalling/greasing everything on the bike.
Look I was at Home Depot earlier and they did not have a 32mm socket so I could properly torque the lock ring via my lock ring tool. I’m ON IT.
DQ what’s the best v brakes i can buy? NOS XT? full size not mini
What are those neat ones where one arm is longer and curves over the wheel and acts as the housing stop and it doesn’t use a noodle?
Avid single digits?
XT/R parallel push? (With zip tie mod to quell squeal)
XT / deore current trekking?
New $20 Shimanos with XTR pads.
NOS XTR for old bikes
Avid CX9 if you want to spend a lot and not have xtr
deore/non-series shimano w/ xt pads if you want the best brakes for the least.
Do they have side play? Mine have more than any of my other cranks?
No. There’s no way they should have side play with the correct spacers and the preload collar adjusted.
Maybe if your bearings are dead and gone and waiting to explode? Like on a well-worn wheel.
Yeah, literally no way that’s a crank problem when most cranks have adjustable preload…
Maybe I’m wrong about the model. I don’t recall having preload adjustment. They work like old ISIS cranks, except with external bearings. I’m not even sure what kind of crank puller would be needed to remove them.
Mine do not have preload either. And I needed the thicker square taper style puller (though I just stuck an appropriate size washer into mine to make the pushing interface larger.
I tried that and just bent a bunch of washers.
I believe I had a set of cranks like this for a short time, and you got it they use an isis puller. I should probably send mine to you because I think I used the puller to pull the cranks, sold the cranks, then threw the puller in the box
Brotherhood of the traveling crank puller
Ok it wasn’t a washer. It was a broken off bolt head from my car that was the nearest round object in my field of view and happened to fit perfectly.
