These are the ones I’m talking about. Adjuster on NDS and self extracting bolt on DS.
If memory serves, it’s the Aeffect crank that uses an ISIS-style remover. Here’s a vid that might help with removal and creaking:
That’s the one I needed
Just checked, they’re Turbines but must be older than the 2016 vintage of the bike they came on. No adjuster on NDS.
ETA: traditional spider, too, not direct mount.
EETA: I think this is some OEM fuckery. Only the rings say Turbine. Cranks have no model name on them. Might the the Ride line.
Anyone know the deal with early aughts trek 520 sizing? The smallest size is listed as 17” has relatively no headtube, and a sloping top tube
But the top tube is 540mm
That’s wildly long for such a short bike, right? Am I missing something about small bikes here?
Is the seat tube hella slack giving the longer than it functions TT measurement?
Just spitballing here… but if it’s tiny headtube and threaded the functional reach of the bike will get shorter as this bars come up because the HTA is so much slacker than the STA.
They work really well, but always squeal like a piggy.
Call me crazy, but I think that’s one of those 520 hybrids they made, and someone put drops on it.
Yea, definitely a hybrid.
Cane Creek Direct Curve
not really that great, but solves some cable routing issues because you can set the cable exit to be left-handed and it starts at an angle that can be compounded on another axis with a bonus noodle
THANK YOU. I could not remember what they were for the life of me. Never used them but thought they were cool from a cable routing POV
I had these at one point. I remember them being really good. But that was definitely 15 years ago I think.
when did they make a 520 hybrid? if memory serves it was a touring bike always and forever. longest running model they have and until a few years ago they never changed it meaninffully
I think the hybrid in question is the 720 multitrack
Which was also a touring bike at one point
U rite. looks like a 98

The fit is still confusing me but we’re going to go look at it on Sunday I think
