I’ve always cut down my saddle sticks to minimum length for the desired application. Having done this recently on an Enve one, it made it more difficult to shove a Di2 battery up in there. Seems the end of the saddle stick has a round ID, but in the area where I cut it off, it had an oval ID.
Probably doesn’t matter, but something to consider.
They have my size in “raw finish”, no clearcoat. So I think it needs something if I’m going to ride it in the salt and sand all winter.
standard matte : free
standard matte is between black matte and UD matte , It have clear coat protect the paint (need 2-3 weeks )
UD glossy, black matte . black glossy :US$ 45
One color: US:$70.00(matte or glossy,solid color )
Purple glossy. Glossy for ease of wipe-down, purp because of course.
But really it seems like a nice opportunity to choose a color. Are their decals or stickers you want to apply? What color components, especially fenders?
Mine arrives today or tomorrow. After that I can attest to the quality of the “one-color glossy”. The consensus of folks on the Internet is that the paint quality is surprisingly good.
Otherwise ATMO if you go darker on the frame, a nice set of silver fenders can really work well over all-black tires/rims/spokes. Then if you have other small bits of silver like lever blades or pedals or cages it all works nicely.
I agree that purple is the best bike color. My old track bike was a very dark plum and I loved it. But I’ve never loved painted bikes with no decals, and I can’t think of any that I would like.
Send it to Turp for a custom art job? Let my kids scribble on it and clear coat that?
I did the scribble but no clear coat. I just gave a 4 year old a handful of indelible paint pens and let her go bananas on it. It lasted years, but a lot of it succumbed to a vigorous alcohol scrub I did to remove built up tire milk spray.
semi-related, is Turp not posting here, or did I miss another round of super hilarious and not at all confusing name changes?
