i just wear vans when mtb’in with saint pedals, should i be doing something different?
That’s fine, but for actual mtb-in’ try some Five Tens. It’s a whole other level of foot security.
I fuuuuucking hated BOA.
It was always a click too loose or a click too tight.
Then it broke in like 3 months and I threw those shoes in the trash.
I’ve been really loving my Recon Mixed laceups. Most comfy bike shoes I’ve owned.
I’ve never once felt compelled to adjust my shoes while riding.
I like BOA closures, and really I wish 5.10 would make a flat pedal shoe with BOAs. Cost is probably a major factor, though.
I mean, it just doesn’t matter much on flat pedal shoes since there’s no pulling up.
I do wish more flat pedal shoes looked less like skate shoes from 2002 though.
Pearl Izumi has one that doesn’t have the skater aesthetic. 5.10 is coming out with a model that draws heavily from adidas’ Samba in profile/appearance.
5 10 has the sleuth which looks nice. But is out of stock in my size everywhere.
Yeah, that’s the one I was referring to. Not available yet.
I just started wearing some Freeriders yesterday. With my T8000 pedals, it’s almost too much grip on the pedals, it’s like riding clipless with no float. On Chesters today it’s actually much less grippy and I couldn’t tell you why, maybe I just got used to it? Anyway they are good and I’ll keep wearing them but I feel like they are overkill for commuting and I should probably look into some Vans.
SQ I’m 32 and have never bought a pair of actual Vans, is there a model that works better on bike pedals or are they all the same?
5.10 is owned by adidas now, so that makes sense. Some of their terrex shoes would port to mtb pretty well also.
Looks like the Sleuth won’t be available before September at the earliest (sample-wise).
Get any of the “Pro” models. They’re twice as expensive and twice as good. The non pro vans are more shoe-shaped-objects than real shoes.
You can order them on Zappos and stuff. They’re around. Just not in 8-9.5
5.10 apparently doesn’t make shoes bigger than 12 so fuck them anyway.
My mistake, I was referring to the upcoming Sleuth DLX.
Wow, this is like my actual perfect shoe
Sw8! First nütarck shartq
I am pretty indifferent about road tubeless and am already running a tube in the rear due to a giant puncture that wouldn’t seal.
Just spotted some 28mm GP4K on sale. Contis have a reputation for being a tight fit, yes? Would I be hating life trying to get them onto Belgium Plus rims?
Also, these tires run taller/narrower on skinnier rims, so I could expect a little lower/wider, right (if they can be wrenched on)?
Cloth tape was because someone told me it was the best like 5 years ago and I haven’t questioned it.
I should move to tubeless road though, u rite. Just need to figure out how big a tire the tarmac can fit, then I’ll jump on it.
Where are these gp4ks on sale?
Almost always on sale at a good price at either probikekit or merlin
