Fenders

Oh, and I did notice these

Which are specifically for the Specialized Roll, 650b x 2.3 tires. So could be a good option for 650bers or for me to re-radius a bit for fatty 26" (or for narrower 700c, I’d guess would work for a 1.9 or 2.0 even).

My PD ALX fenders are 2.4"/61mm across. I think that fitting a 2.3" tire would be a stretch, but they would seem to meet your needs, Jimmy. Listed max tire size is 2.1".

I just installed mine today, and they are great. No hiccups - fit exactly as expected and described. It’s almost as if these things were designed for an NFE. Though they are slightly heavier than Berthoud or Honjo, I notice no discernible quality difference between these and more expensive fenders I’ve installed, and they are certainly better than VO. I’ll post up a photo later.

cool, good info. I might end up giving the ALX a try when my NFE eventually arrives.

I should be at the Velo Picnic tonight, if you want to see them in person.

lol Specialized is making their own Electra flatfoot bikes

Laugh away, but like a quarter of customers at your local bike shop think that something is wrong with the fit on their bike because they can’t put their feet on the ground while they are on their saddle. Those flatfoot bikes kill it, in that category.

Also, there are now 650bx2.3 Nimbus tires. That’s something, isn’t it?

Those roll fenders are pretty dang short

Got the Kelpie 80mm fenders mostly installed. Still need to machine a piece to connect the front of the front fender to the rack and attach the front fender stays permanently.

So the 650b fenderz to get are the ALX ones?

Damn! That bike is a BEAST!

so awesome

I don’t know if they’re the one to get, but I like mine. The 27.5 ones only come in 60mm, which is pretty damn wide. I would stay away unless you have a modern 650b bike designed with huge clearances and disc brakes. That’s why I said that they seem to have been designed for the Elephant.

If I were maxing out my tire size at 38mm, and/or running rim brakes, I’d probably just stick with what 700c fender fit comfortably.

looking forward to more Kelpie fenders :bear:

What do y’all do on frames with no seatstay bridge? Drill holes and zip-tie directly to the stays? Frame has eyelets on dropouts and chainstay bridge, but no seatstay bridge.

I stole an idea from my old roommate. It was to drill two holes somewhere round where it somewhat hits the seat tube, cut and mitre a small amount of hosing and zip tie it to the seat tube

Problem solvers? makes a few dif size clamps threaded for an m5

can also use a rear reflector mount and bracket.

Oh I read everything wrong…

What kinda bike you got

Van Dessel WTF (demo/loaner).

Looks like:
