well, you vary the tone of a tuning fork by a combination of material (E, ρ) and geometry (I, A & l), so an SiC bell should ring for a long time, and if you tweak the dimensions you can adjust the resonant frequency to your desired note?

You could run it off a bottle dynamo-style interface with the tire. Get someone in the PNW to blow some artisanal bowls, make it with a form factor to fit in a Wald basket, strap it in with some V-oily straps and off to the front page of Radivist.

Has anyone messed around with carbon fiber rods? I’m thinking they would be great in some kind of rack strut capacity, but might require hardware (like Nitto M-18 rod grabbers) to secure.

Carpet fiber arrow shafts may also be a good source, if you can find them cheap enough and in a size that will work for you.
