I went for a ride today and here are some photos

Shit you see parked at Bentonville trailheads.

My wife does ride sometimes too.

KORN gashed the sidewall in the tandems rear tire.

Did a big ol’ ride in the Santa Monicas yesterday. Legs felt about as good as they’ve ever felt on a ride this big. Set a PR on Latigo after 9k of climbing. Think I’ve finally figured out/adjusted to SoCal climbing. Now its making me want to go tackle seem really big rides.

I like very few things about LA, but having a fucking massive and relatively undeveloped mountain range in the middle of the city is pretty great.

Having access to a couple of big mountain ranges within riding distance of the city is pretty incredible.

My experience of LA was just that. We rode from my friend’s house and up a mountain. Then we rode to Malibu for his bachelor party. It was awesome and totally made me want to live in Venice Beach.

I am SO excited to be able to do rides like this

Coming out here?

Yes! spouse started med school at USC this past August and I graduate in the spring, so to LA I go. She grew up there, so I’ve visited a few times. Always amazed at how it’s secretly probably the best mountain town in the US. Like, you can just ride some of the best dirt around within 5 miles of home and then end up at the ocean. Seems like a pretty good deal!

Awesome! Yeah, I feel like the mountains are LA’s best kept secret.
I live kind of near USC, give me a shout when you’re in town next and we can go spin around somewhere

Snuck out in my lunch hour to try and photograph some baby Pukeko chicks. Saw nothing but on the trail I came across this Koura! Wondering if a Kotare had dropped him after snatching him from a stream ? I could certainly hear them calling. Thats twice now I have come across one of these guys in the middle of the road, or trail.

It’s definitely fall now!

Just rode the little skills line down the street like 6 times in a row. Did my first little baby one hander. Need a bigger jump to really commit but it felt surprisingly ok.

Just a short spin in the woods after work but probably the last dry-ish day for a while.

Ready for some mud and rain though.
