Tarcklebee for best bike ride story of 2023
Unexpected great ride today before it rains 3" again. Warm, and foggy above a certain elevation.
Checked out a new sketchy trail a local yokel told me about. Not today satan:
Vibes portion of the ride (these felt like maybe they were frying my brain a little):
Just about below the fog:
60 miles today, mostly on bike paths. didn’t take many photos. not a lot of climbing but it was nice out there!
Went back and sessioned a few runs on lookout. Went far better than past adventures. Stoked to share 3/4 with sup. I didn’t like the last one to know she wouldn’t.
But photos don’t do much with some features, so here is Gunnar and Lake Samish. No hunting allowed here, but we kept orange vest to better see him if he jumps into the woods. And people appreciate his tiny cow bell, which also helps us locate him if we can’t see him.
How old is Gunnar now?
He looks like a Filson catalog model.
Very silver fox.
He is about 8 now.
Couple tarck centuries with some fellas this past Saturday. Motley crew. One guy on an e-bike commuter, one on a vintage bianchi, and another fully kitted out on a carbon road bike.
Took a small diversion on my commute today to take in one of my favorite local trails, Ikigai. Still nothing bad to say about the Equals. Guessing the pads are organic. Certainly stopping as well as the hydros were.
Have you used the Hayes CX mechanicals? I’m interested in a comparison.
I have not Jimmy, only BB7’s.
And that’s 5’+ below where it peaked yesterday.
I caught the freeze part of the freeze/thaw and enjoyed nine miles of hoar frosted singletrack. It was all the clear cut trail, so I took a photo on the short stretch of gravel road between trails.

Bit of a head cold ride on e-bike to explore some new trails. Def walked a bunch of steep wet slabs and stuff. Then got back to some stuff I enjoyed.
For the 4th sunday in a row its been raining. This is our summer.
Screw it. Went for a ride anyway.
No photo.
We had at least 8 weekends in a row like that. Thanks global warming?
rode my bike for the first time in a couple weeks, to work and from, finished with my last retail shift of the holiday season, the busiest year in my jobs history, with me leading the team. Time to sleep.
