I went for a ride today and here are some photos

Yeah but… it’s a lot cooler with suspension?

I feel like these guys are just reverse engineering a mountain bike through willful ignorance.

I think ATBs are also obligated to have swept bars and mostly silver parts.

ATBs also have to be steel, right?

ATB is 80s MTB, minus the wild anodized components.

Absolutely, unless it’s built by Frank the Welder

I think that’s a little later than ATB, though.

Is that Jockey Hill?

For me ATB’s was when you rode a triple and it was 26/36/48 on the front and a 28 on the back. Then when compact came out, that’s when they were MTB, in my head anyway.

I think your lost cousinmosquito

Yep. Super fun riding back there.

The little rubber bungs never hang around for long eh.
Very pretty. My friend is going back to Japan on sunday, will get him to pick me up some post mount ones for another bike.

Went back up into the sooke hills

Crabapple lake

Old cabin foundation

ditched the bike and hiked to the top of Empress Mountain. Here’s looking north to the sooke lake reservoir.

and east back to victoria

grabbed my bike again and these were the “trails” coming back down the other side. lol. i knew this might be the case, there’s another trail i’ll take next time that should be more bikeable. Made it back to the mup before dark so no real issue. Feet even stayed dry.

Nice, we did some NYC riding Friday too. Central Park was a bit of a gong show ahead of the marathon but for our first ride there it was quite fun.
