I went for a ride today and here are some photos

Went for a walk in the woods. Saw some huge kites on the way home.

And a dead ass bat :flushed:

I finally rolled over the feature I have been riding by for months. I always ride alone, it’s at the furthest point from my car, on a trail that I rarely see anyone on but I decided it was time. Here is a shitty screen grab from the shitty video I shot of it

Not shown is the tree in the run out and the big drop down a steep slope on my left.

2 hours upwards over the mountain for my first ride on the new build. Bike rides nicely. It’s certainly not a snappy road bike but I’m liking it. Really want wheels that aren’t 2kg though.

The color is really lovely in the sun.

@Euphorbia (i think) says carbon wheels, what are you waiting for- why did you wait this long?

this reminds me that at some point i should build up my pub rims from that one time we all bought carbon rims for like $25/ea so that i can have carbon wheels for the first time ever. if i play my cards right it will be about 10 years since i left the retail bike shop to go noodle on the heaviest shittiest bikes ever by the thousands, then just work on spreadsheets to support the existence of said bikes.

anyhow here’s a pic for talking so much- this was from the tarck century i rode today with a bonus 2.5 miles on top, and some chicken and lamb over rice from a cart our “city” recently got that is fantastic before jumping into meetings on my day off

didn’t capture the ethereal look of all the spilled glass beads that didn’t get stuck on the white line. almost got run over by that UPS truck too! they went a little too early before a green light and i stopped and very firmly told them they need to go first because i don’t want to be run over in the event there is a misunderstanding

Oh! I rode them yesterday morning!
They were great. Never been on carbon before. Noticeably better riding and all that!

Yeah lighter wheels definitely need to happen. I’ve been perusing the Light Bicycle website quite a lot over the last day or two.

Maybe I’m just bad at bikes but I’ve demoed fancy carbon bikes with carbon wheels and expensive shocks and I can’t really tell the difference. The only thing I notice is shifter and brake feel.

Just a lil ride this evening.

Dark red really is the best bike color

Absolutely dead still on my commute this morning.

I don’t like red anything typically but this really does it for me.

Not a snow day. Wind day maybe? My district is still dealing with lots of downed trees and power outages. So I got up at my normal time and took a pre-sunrise ride to a place that makes great bagels.

ebike torture testing today. First wife kid and I went to the farmer’s market (wife and kid in box). Found the cargo bike parking spot:

Then I went up the hill behind town and stopped around the snow line:

Damn it was still pretty hard (bike in turbo mode and me struggling), but on one uphill section I beat my 4 minute PR by 1 minute lol. I think perhaps the enviolo hub gearing isn’t calibrated right. I did the calibration procedure but I’m not sure everything is working properly. Shrug.

Did you see Face’s post about mountain biking on your cargo bike? Seems like it didn’t go well.

Mine is full suspension bro

Dawn patrol solo ride, chilly but fun and frozen dirt rides real fast.

Afternoon ride with mrsthefly, kiddo went to a bday party and we unexpectedly got 3hrs free together!

By this time the frost had melted making the dirt super awesome perfectly damp velcro.

The tail was 99% snow free, but still had to be on your toes as like halfway thru a fast berm suddenly you’d be on slippery stuff.
