I’m a fan of 1/4” bit/ratchet setups for on-the-bike tool kits, also good to know that I should avoid Topeak stuff in the future.
Good Mtb explore today. Forgot that the initial climb is about 9 miles and 4500’ of climbing though.
Snuck a ride in yesterday during this thaw we are experiencing, then immediately went down with a stomach bug.
Rode 8 kms to St Kilda beach in Melbs STRAYA. I swear, ebikes are lucky to be 2% here. Back in NZ they are probably 50-60% of bikes at least. I guess the terrain is more challenging back home. Luckily my SIL here has the bug and had 4 bikes at our disposal. Only one supplied by me. In contrast to my other SIL who has 3 from me. Saw some nice geese too. Should have got closer for a better shot. Was a cold wind and 17 degrees. Should have bought a beanie.
On a whim went down to Florida with my girlfriend and did the Hurrcan 300 lite as a tour right before Christmas. Extremely cool route. We waffled heavily on bikes but settled on gravel instead of mountain bikes because the lite route was ostensibly gravel bike friendly for 46mm+ tires.
Although the route is definitely raceable at that width , the miles of sugar sand and washboard were pretty tough on loaded bikes. We bailed after 200 mi and took roads/ Greenways and an Uber back to the start. I think we could have ridden it a lot faster on bigger tires - we spent a ton of time walking through sand and picking our way through rough double track
Overall a phenomenal trip. Tons of wildlife- gopher tortoises, sandhill cranes, so many phasmids, a family of bears playing etc. Girlfriend is now extremely stoked on bikepacking , im as stoked on bikes as I’ve been in five years and we are building better touring setups for our mountain bikes.

Some fixie nerds drove out from Portland and we rode bikes then ate Thai food. Loved it.
Had to cut it short cause they couldn’t hang
It’s cold here,mang.
Single pivot for the win !
I keep thinking about getting a new mtb but then ride this one and can’t imagine any improvement for how I ride
been deep in the Manistee National Forest where there’s no data or wifi putting the fat bikes to the test
Get thee on cross country skis brother
