Welp, wife’s visiting her family for two weeks so I get to ride my bike almost all of the time. Tonight was a slow meander, ended up at the train depot
Light was nice. It was pretty quiet. Quality excursion. 8/10

Boise looks like a nice place to ride when it isn’t freezing
or sweltering.
Right now’s the right time!
The weather here slipping into summer and slipping into the fall is the best
Sweltering’s not bad if you’re near water, and we’ve got a whole lot of rivers
Winter’s the worst because the cold makes my teeth hurt #oldman
I didn’t actually end up going for a ride today. Here are some pictures.
Don’t you have an entire garage full of other bikes you could ride?
I could if I were at home in Chicago but this is the bike I keep at the little Wisconsin lake house that we have access too a few times a year. I left the bike here in January and it the intervening months, someone knocked it over and broke the shifter.
I can’t even bring the thing home tomorrow because we didn’t bring the bike rack, not doing so being the entire point of leaving a bike here in the first place!
Got high and rode my new bike around town. Took the bike path and rode around some of the more or less interesting neighborhoods looking at stuff. On the way home stopped by at the brewery for a beer. This is a sweet bike. I love it. But man, Columbus is dead. Saturday afternoon on a nice day, nobody’s out.
Started to pour rain so I guess I’m here for a while. I like these huge silver paddles on the microshitters
What microshift? I find myself in the market for an 11 speed shifter/dangler set for my upside down old man bike up there.
I got a used set of r9 3x9s. They are kinda sram like. Big ole clunk a dunkers
Day off from dadding and mtb has new calipers to ride Santa Cruz trails with a friend (and first time hauling bikes on the new VW)
also, sat with a guy who was waiting for an ambulance — he was riding on the road and a falling branch hit him, he crashed and broke his arm ![]()
60ish mile ride to the marin museum of bicycling. saw Breezer #2 and a bunch of cool bruce gordon stuff. cool ass spot, wild to ride the headlands trails and think about riding them on pre-war schwinns with coaster brakes.
Today was my first time at Oakridge. Ripping around in the old growth was a blast. We were going to do the ATCA, but bailed on that plan since the upper trails were muddy. We’re going to come back in the fall and attempt it again.
Rode to Vancouver and back yesterday for the vintage mountain bike show n shine. Around 170km/105 miles on my coaster brake Kona but pretty much flat the whole way.
Left at 5am to catch the 7am ferry.
Lots of quiet farm roads between the ferry and the outskirts of Vancouver. Ominous looking clouds in the distance
Crap. Skies opened up right as I hit the Alex Fraser bridge. Hid out under a bridge support for 15min or so and fortunately the rest of the day was dry.
Crossing the Queensborough Bridge means a great view of the provincial insurance corp salvage yard. Looks like a Lotus Emira that suffered an engine fire and a crashed Rolls Ghost. And a ton of teslas.
The show itself was super cool, good mix of xbiking spec basket rigs (nothin wrong with that) and blue chip collector’s bikes. It was unbelievably crowded, difficult to walk let alone take pics. My fav was a Breezer Series III but I didn’t get a pic. There were two other Kona looptail cruisers in addition to mine including a 95 Humu sister to my 95 A’ha
Rolling home, that’s the Alex Fraser bridge in distance in the center of the pic
Got the 9pm boat back to the island and made it home at 12:30. Long day. Man I love this bike.
Damn that is a helluva ride on a klunker!
That Mantis is sooo cool.
Doing my best to be out and about because the weather’s been so great and the sunsets have been wonderful
Trying to get my mileage up to do some bigger rides. Got 50 in yesterday. I’m a long way from a double century, but we’ll get there.
