Figured out how to get over to San Pedro and Palos Verdes. It only has 7.5 mi of shit riding through the Port of Los Angeles and Wilmington, its industrial wasteland neighbor.

I got all excited that was an amphibious car, but I guess it’s just a boat dressed up as a car that some company makes (and has rental fleets maybe)?

This was the scene at drop off this morning.
The light green one has all orange Hope components it’s ridiculous. The guy went to Copenhagen and bought it directly from Larry and Harry and then had it shipped to Chicago. He also has a tricked out Omnium (and a tesla).

My wife and I got to go on a ride together for the first time in a while. I’m super impressed that they felt great riding for almost two hours after months of not touching a bike at all.

Also they got to try out some singletrack for the first time, including some small whoops and little elevated wooden features. It was super fun to watch someone find out what that kind of stuff feels like for the first time!

Then, on our way back home, I saw a chain laying in the trail. Figured I would pick it up just so nobody would run over it and cause them an issue.

Just a little bit later, we came up on a father and son with the kid stridering a Woom - the dad said that his chain came off! I usually carry a quick link in my repair kit and for some reason I didn’t have a 10 speed which would match my bike, but did have a 9 speed one that I was able to make work with the 8 speed on the Woom.

They were still a couple of miles away from where they started and it was awesome to help them be able to pedal back. That’s now the second time that parts and tools that I always carry with me have let me help someone else, even though I haven’t had to use them myself yet!

Rode to the Spoken show (Spoko?) with @panda_heavy_metal this morning (morno?).

Seeing 32" in person for the first time is comical. It just makes the total bike so huge. I don’t think I could store it in my apartment.

Bike of the show for me was this Baum. The paint was incredible.

PFP is a tiny human.

Apparently this is WVA’s bike. Wout furry confirmed???

“I waxed it for you, daddy”

Cool stuff in the paddock, too:

Not pictured: a bunch of 20k wanker bikes

Rode a new-to-me loop last night - SGRT to Lakewood to LA River. I was pretty worried about the return, with a killer tailwind up the San Gabriel, but kept it cooking for 32 miles in just under two hours. Definitely going to start adding the 710 bridge baby climb to my flat rides, it’s the 2nd highest point in LB after Signal Hill (not saying much, but it’s something).

LA River smelled like fresh doodoo and they’re still cleaning up the mess from last month’s oil pipeline rupture.
