Is there a wheelbuilding thread yet?

New wheels for the emergency randonneuse:

I can’t use through axles after all, because I use this machine to lug around the bob yak (yeah, the robert axle project sells them, but they are as janky as hell) so lets drag out some ancient can’t be tubelessed unless I’m very patient mtb rims and lace them up to an old deore hub and a baby dynohub instead.

2 hours from pulling the old wheels out to unlace to having them trued but not yet tensioned. Not bad for being out of wheelbuilding shape.

This makes my broken brain so happy

Holy shit

Spoke calc says 263.5.
These used spokes I found will probably be ok, right? Probably?

Yep

Anyone have a trick for reviving dried out spoke prep? Can I just add water and stir it up?

I seem to recall that’s how to do that, but haven’t ever tried myself.

I did that a few months back, a few drops at a time. Seemed to work just fine. It’s dried up a little since then, but it didn’t separate or do anything weird.

Straight pull was the first time having good results with the tensionometer. 4mm on non drive and 3mm on the freewheel side. All the way around.

The front was trickier I free handed it to my acceptable level of true before checking and it was all between 3&3.5. Pulled it all to 3 but it was dished right and walking it back while maintaining consistency is hard. What’s an acceptable ± ?

Also I’ve been staring at those rims for eight hours now and I absolutely cannot decide whether there is any offset on the holes

What is the current DT Swiss knock off hub?
