Is there a wheelbuilding thread yet?

I used linseed oil and tensioned properly and never had a problem, and I’ve used purple loctite, same. Purp loctite is basically the same as linseed, in that it provides some resistance, but isn’t semi permanent.

On my own wheels, I have ever used recycled Shimano mineral oil as spoke prep, and with proper tensioning, I’ve never had to do anything other than the occasional wheel true after a crash or the like

clever, I’m going to try to do that but will probably use an offbrand ziploc to store the oil and wind up leaking it all over the place.

Serious q: is linseed oil really still a modern option? I use it, but would be happy to replace it with a bottle of some magic goo that WheelFanatyk or whoever sells if it’s categorically superior.

I use rock n roll nipple cream. Works fine. Comes in a bottle that makes application easy. Doesn’t dry out in the bottle. Doesn’t stink.

Ah nice. Linseed by the 4oz jar is not optimal on the application front, though I guess I could just use an old essential oil bottle. Or just hold my spokes over a diffuser, get a calming lavender wheelset out of it.

I cracked my bottle and all the liquid drained. Now it is a cream that I dip the spoke threads in.

Also turns you into the tin man

I’ve always used teflon pipe thread compound, the hole in the end of the tube is about the size of a spoke so you just push the spoke in and you get a perfect application.

yer gonna love em, I did the nextie equivalent of this in the spring and am constantly flabbergasted by how fast the bike feels like it accelerates with so much less rotating weight

Should I get some nextie rims for my friendpoint?
