have Fogcutter, will have ongoing trouble getting the rotor into the caliper slot. Currently the rear hub has a couple of Boyd .5mm shims in there to get the rotor out far enough to keep it from brushing.
Looking at a set of the dropouts quickly they do seem to put the slots further inboard than the Shimano spec. Hopefully not an issue for most wheels/calipers. A few minutes with a file should help too.
They are not the most appealing looking dropouts but there isn’t a lot of choice and these are reasonably priced. The MUSA CNC or Euro CNC options cost as much as a tube set.
I’ve filed the backside of a center lock rotor once as a customer had 4 sets of wheels for a bike and one of the sets was impossible to adjust unless hand tools were used.
Is there any reason why I’d want a Velo-Orange Voyager rim over a Rhynolite if I don’t care about silver or tubeless?
It’s probably better made and likely easier to seat a tire on. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a Sun rim that matched its advertised ETRTO.
I had a post written here but deleted it to tell you to just support @igor
It’s a nice rim, but if you don’t care about shiny and tubeless what you might want is the Alex Adventure II, which is tubeless if you need it later but not shiny
Good luck finding an Adventurer 2 in 26”/32h.
Oh wow! Thanks! I’m gonna hoard a pair!
worth hoarding. cheap, builds up really easy. tlr. durable. not exceptionally heavy.
When a set of 700c wheels says “no weight limit” on 24 spokes does that mean like 175lbs rider and bike? Or 200? Or 250?
What wheels? 24 spokes and no limit seems bold.
“ 7. No rider weight limit”
Ah for a carbon gravel wheel I guess that’s not so unreasonable. I assume the rims have a pretty good layup and straight pull spokes are certainly a bit less likely to start breaking under a larger human.
I’d be shocked if those weren’t fine for 200 rider and cargo. probably fine 250 tbh
I’m mean I rode DA C24s at one point at 190lbs and they don’t have a weight limit on those. Shallow rim with 16/20 spokes. They were rather noodly though.
The Domane that comes with those wheels stock says rider+bike+cargo weight limit is 275lbs. My hunch is that seatpost is the biggest limiter there, though I’d be curious to know more of where their total limits come from.
So are straight pull spokes better than standard for heavy riders?
Stronger in general as I understand it. No bend means no extra stress riser in the system. But maybe that’s wrong.
I’m not an actual expert.
