it wouldn't be tarck without a dyno thread

my post may not have made full sense

IQ-X is great- bright AF but the standlight sucks, it flickers at a higher low-end than most, and the beam is good but not phenomenal.

I have some iteration of cyo senso that has a fantastic beam, great standlight, more normal low speed flicker, but is maybe 70 or 80 lux vs the X at 100. but once its really fucking dark 70 lux is really great anyway so how much am i really missing there when the optics are on fleek

it’s been a while but I recall my cyo premium beam felt a little better on the road than my current iqx, even if it wasn’t quite as bright. both are leagues ahead of the vanilla cyo I run on my winter bike

also, the cyo premium I formerly ran was a goatee model with high-viz LEDs on the bottom. the light, overall, was noticeably dimmer than a standard non-goatee cyo premium the one time I rode side-by-side at night with one. not sure if that was design difference or manufacturing tolerances, who knows. but I won’t be buying any more goatee models.

I’ve got the QNDI and it’s great.

Pretty much everyone that has had both (that I’ve spoken to) says the same thing.
I did a night ride with my Premium beside a guy with an IQ-X and the brightness vs optics thing is real. I’d take a premium any day of the week tbh.

I just bought an iq-x soley because it looks way better than the cyos

That rotating mount on the IQ-X is p nice.

But I returned mine after one ride and went back to Cyo Premium as well.

FTFM, otherwise that bike would have a Cyo Premium.

In my unscientific non-back to back testing on different bikes, the IQ-X throws light farther and not as wide compared to the Cyo’s slightly wider and not as far beam.

I probably just should have gotten an edelux but it doesn’t feel right powering one from a non son hub

Yes, the -X has a ridiculous light throw. It’s not so good for puttering around the city, but it’s great for wandering around on tertiary roads in the middle of the night.

Anyone have any tips on mounting methods for a toplight when there’s no rack on the bike? I know igor sells some v.nice alloy mounts but their shipped cost to prison island makes me want to look at other options.

The plastic b&m thing which clips onto saddle rails is out as it isn’t resitant to casual theft.

Presently it seems best options are aliexpress mix and match saddle rail mounts for gopros unless there is a silver bulllet out there?

Do you have access to a 3d printer? @drwelby made a thing that I’ve been using with much success:

Thanks, that does look good but am both without a printer and without rack mounts. Thinking more along the lines of saddle rail or brake bridge bolt style.

Maybe one of these and some scrounged hardware?

get two of these

throw away that heavy middle bit

then find a short length of aluminum angle

drill some holes like so

use the cable clamps to clamp it to the rails and then mount your light to the vertical surface.

bevel the corners to make it fancy and don’t tell igor cause I don’t want him to hate me
