I mean I just electrical tape my dyno cables to the outside of my frames because I’m an absolute monster, but this seems like a fun project
2 part epoxy for the win
drill little holes and zip tie or wire tie? glue weld mounts on and ziptie?
What kind of fender?
With berthoud with the channel I’ve silicon’d in a wire
With plastic fenders I’ve used clear packing tape and aluminum tape. Careful with plastic tapes and clearances because they’ll wear out and expose the wire and introduce water and grime.
As mentioned above, prep is key. Everything super clean.
aluminum
no groove
thinking I will just paint epoxy over the wire tight into the edge
might also look for thicker aluminum tape
Thicker doesn’t really matter unless you expect rubbing.
Get it real clean and put it on a side and not the center tread
alternately, attach some wires to the inside of the fender and put connection points at either end
I run the wire up the fender stay instead of inside the fender. Easier imho, but also less clean looking
Hot glue is my go to. Haven’t had a wire come loose yet and it is easy enough to peel off.
Tell me more about drilling holes in steel frames for dyno cable routing
Fork too? What grommets? How did you guide the cables through the tubes?
Fork - opened up exsisting purge holes to 1/4" with grommets
down tube - hole behind the head cluster 1/4" with grommet
down tube to BB already has a hole
split connection inside the BB
One circuit up and out a hole I drilled in the seat post
one circuit goes out a hole in the back of the bottom bracket behind the lower fender bridge - wires are running under the chain stay protector and through the tubular leg of the rear rack.
I use the skinny wire from Velolumio doubled up - it is nicer to use and easier to route than anything else I played with.
compressed air to blow dental floss through the fork leg.
let me know if you have other questions
EPDM Rubber Push-In Grommet for 1/4" Hole Diameter | McMaster-Carr
Nice, thanks! Where did you come out of the fork? Inside the leg under the crown? Then back in and to the back for the tail light?
coming out of the vent hole which is right about where the line of the fender sits so I just tucked it under the fender and epoxied the wires to the underside of the fender to route them to a hole near the lamp.
More.
Yeah more
Also for Shimano hub connectors does anyone glue/seal/goopwhatever the wires in? The connector itself seems solid enough but I have my doubts about the wires.
i put a little dielectric grease in but otherwise i’d like to be able to disassemble and reassemble wiring on the fly
Are these too dumb to buy? I kind of want one for a weird fixed gear build, w/o the end caps.
They build up like this:
