No reason to keep it but maybe snip off the leads if you ever want to make an extension wire.
I need to check my small pile of them to see just what they consider as overvoltage (and whether it rectifies the AC while it’s at it.)
iirc that’s for rear only and probably an outdated mode of light emitter
Any crimping tool recommendations for dyno wires?
I always drag my feet with bike wiring and i’m tired of using the crappy one I have.
Knipex looks sweet, but not sure I can justify 100+ EUR
Runny Arse seems to recommend this model train version
iFixit has this one
Similar design to that knipex one from aliexpress works great for me.
Same but I have an amazon one.
I think this is the one I bought that was recommended here a while back, seems fine for the couple of times a year it gets used.

Similar to mine, which is branded “Titan.”
Works great!
Uh oh
I have this same one, rebranded as something else. It works, crimped all my dyno wires cleanly the other day, and the ratcheting mechanism makes a world if difference.
Cleaned out my bike mess and traded some wheels for this Open Pro ceramic to DH-3n80.
I’m going to have some questions!
I’m assuming these will be perfectly functional for my 2.5 mile commute? And that starbike is still the spot for dyno things?
Starbike
Bike24
also bike-discount.de and bike-components.de usually have comparable prices.
Only suggestion I’d make is that if you have a rear rack to get the Toplight Line Plus. I kinda buy the marketing that it gives people a better estimate of their distance from you
I use a front basket instead of a rear rack so no worries there.
Will I be eternally sad for going Shimano instead of Son for a mtb dyno setup? I don’t feel like I can justify the price of a Son at this time unless y’all convince me otherwise. Will be connected to the new version of the Sinewave Beacon, and always for recreational use. I don’t have the discipline for timed poopbarning.
Before any other suggestions, I’m only considering these 2 from personal stubbornness.
no.
Not unless you’re looking for <32 spoke count hubs. Shimano hubs are perfectly cromulent dynamos.
This thread delivers, thanks y’all
Aluminum rims are fine by me, and I have just enough height and mass to make <32 spokes too much of a gamble.
