the E3 pro? front/rear? picking up a new build wednesday which has the set on it and ive been nervous ever since i selected them
E3 pro 2. just the front for now…It’s a very nice light, I just love the aesthetics and smaller form factor of the edelux.
Picked this guy up for $40. Pretty stoked, do I need to worry about running it without a tail light until I buy one?
Tailight should be totally optional for those.
Yup, ran one for a couple years without a taillight, still using it, great little light.
nope. some taillights without headlights are an issue and shimano sells a current limiter but i think that might be from before LEDs
having some trouble deciding how to mount my sinewave beacon.
my specific use case: it’ll be on my mountain bike, which will switch between a rigid and bouncy fork. i’d like to mount it on my handlebars, which are currently 22.2mm. the dr jon mc deck seems nice, but also seems to be eternally sold out. i’ll also be using this for bikepacking, so the ability to get it up and above my bars for any loads i’m going to carry would be really nice.
currently i’m thinking something like this gopro handlebar mount + sinewave’s gopro adapter + some sort of tiny shim for my bars, but i’d be curious if anyone else has any thoughts.
The GoPro adapter is great and also fits the Edelux. Go this route. You won’t regret.
Surly makes a 22.2 to 31.8 shim for the sunrise. Get that and chop it to the width you need.
I have two of the CaneCreek computer mounts + the go-pro dongle and I love them. I like having the two on top of one another, but the MC deck looks like a good option as well if you are OK with side by side mounting or want handlebar bag space.
It’s an expensive item but having used both the Cane Creek is a lot better than the $25 eBay look-alikes.
I really want to try this one on my mtb
for MTB it is hard to beat this stem
cut the middle section of the gopro mount out and it’s for a dynamo light
I thought they had stopped making that one! Perfect
That’s a great solution let down by a horrible product page. GoPro mount is not mentioned in the “description” field at all.
Zero pictures of GoPro mount on the main page, you have to click the smaller text under “Features” (where it’s not even obvious you’ll get more pics) and it brings up a single, dark, side pic of a full cockpit with a light mounted near the stem but not obvious at all that the mount is integrated cleverly into the stem faceplate.
It’s like they are trying not to sell it.
I was befuddled by that too - it’s a cool design in that it uses the face plate like a T-slot to let you adjust the mount up and down.
I think it was losing them sales because median mtbros were afraid of it
Is there an option without the GoPro/light mount?
The Range stem comes with a GoPro mount on the faceplate. The mount is easily removable if you choose not to use it.
Ordered one, will report back
Follow up on this:
My DIY aluminum rear fork mount broke after bouncing around too much off road. Looking for new solutions. I usually run a front bag, and sometimes have fork cages which is why I wanted a fork crown mount. Not really sure where to put the light but I’d like it as high as possible.
Could I mount this to the underside of my computer mount?
I would have done something sturdier off one of those side eyelets. Like a cut chainring or something. Soma sold extra long light mounts in the past that would work. I have one. I think it’s too long but I bet it’d work in that application.
That puts the light right by the tire though, which isn’t optimal.
I think the solution is a new bike
Or something that mounts under the handlebar if you’re not handybaggin’
T-bar bag support with light mount.
