it wouldn't be tarck without a dyno thread

switch is wired and has the power, cable w/ magnet on one end links to your battery bank on the other end

Wonder if the wire on that high/low beam switch will be long enough to put the light anywhere other than on the bars or fork crown (without having to modify it).

That’s much better than I was imagining

Someone convince me I need to spend $300+ on a SON instead of $100 for SP or Shimano for my 650b allroad wheel build.

I had one SP hub (15x100 CL) and wouldn’t buy another. It was fine, but very draggy.

Have been happy with sp it’s a commuter so I did the little one that is supposed to go on 20” wheels and I have been happy with it

Exotic spokeways

Guess I should clarify - I’ve got a SP and a Shimano UR705 on two different wheelers already. The wheel set this dynamo is being paired with is going to have gold anodized rims and a Bitex rear hub

I went for the newish tiny SP on my new rim brake wheelset. It really is tiny, and if there’s any drag at all it’s not noticeable.

That’s the one I have. It’s not as bright because for small wheels but I don’t need bright

don’t buy SP, I’ve personally had 66% of the ones I’ve owned fail.

I’ve switched to Shimano and they’re fine, if a bit vibratey

Trying to be the richest body in the graveyard?

…best argument I could come up with

Maybe I’m the outlier, but I’ve had good luck with the 2 SP hubs I’ve been riding for the past bunch of years. Maybe the 15mm varietals are better?

Ive had 3 SP. Still no probs. Cant compare them to another brand tho. 2x QR, 1x 12mm TA.

3 SPs over here too. One of them (centrelock disc) developed a weird ticking noise after many thousand KMs, but still works just fine. The other two (rim brake) are very good.

Had the tick in 2017 and sent it back to SP in Taiwan. Got it back and sold it after a few rides, was OK.

Hmm. It’s probably about 8 years out of warranty, wonder if I could talk a shopbro into doing a return for me…

Got a strap wrench?

Thanks for this update! I just finished 8 days of touring and my Luxos U electronics are on their last legs. It randomly turns on in high-beam mode when trying to charge a device. And the stand light never turns off (that’s been a problem for years).

Alright I did it I bought the SON28.

Gonna feel weird having the high end SON paired with a Bitex on one wheel set and a relatively low end Shimano UR705 paired with a White Industries CLD on my other, but I sure as hell am not rebuilding a week and buying 32 more spokes to swap them around.
