My SP definitely has a buzz, but the only time I really noticed it was riding on smooth National Park roads. It gets drowned out in the general road buzz most of the time.

Some dude rode this bike in to the office for an interview today :colbert:

Shimano definitely buzzes for me. Haven’t noticed it on my SP though. I’m simply impressed it hasn’t detonated like everywhere else I read.

Why is the light rotated 90 degrees?

Why does it appear to have some sort of… fairing?

Heatsink.

that’s the question

This photo actually made me sad.

Was the light loose? I want to believe that it has just slipped into that orientation…

*On closer inspection, zipties imply that this was planned.

and this is what it looks like printed out:

some cleanup required, but i’ll leave that to @blakey, i assume he still has the metallogrpahy supplies (sand paper) he “borrowed” from the office

How much does that thing weigh? It’s really massive.

we used 70% density for the fill print, not sure what the “skin” thickness was, i’m not 3D printing literate, just watched my colleague setup the file for print.

PS, there’s still a bit of flash on there so probably get down to ~18.8806g or so after cleanup :stuck_out_tongue:

Do I spy a nude beach IGH :eyes:

Yes you do

My low end Shimano hub has a ridiculous amount of drag. In the stand with the light off, it spins like any Shimano hub. Flip the flight on and the wheel maybe makes it 10 rotations before stopping. I attribute this to the entire wheel costing $80.

Does this improve with the XT model?

My thought is that there was interference with all the cables coming from the handlebar and this was the solution. Or he thought the light looked too dorky in the correct position.

I saw a bike with a Cyo Premium mounted at 90* off the eyelet on the side of the cross check fork crown. Definitely guys who read that dynamo lights are the best kind of lights, but are too proud to actually read the instructions or take the time to understand why they are good.

@Blakey which thickness did you use when you generated the SLD file?
