Add mine to your list of freakouts.
I’m considering a modification with some 3m seam sealer to waterproof that switch, or buy/manufacture a whole new enclosure.

I’ve been thinking - what with all this DIY 3d printy printing going on, I wonder if an improved enclosure for the Luxos U could be fabricated
Edit: hadn’t seen Mig2000’s post - this is a line of inquiry that could result in something rad
my SV-9 definitely has a buzz and it kinda drives me nuts and also i sort of feel it in my hands (when compared to bikes without the SP)
What’s the preferred dynamo for a 700c rim brake wheel?
I like the 1n70s, though basically any of the Shimano offerings are pretty good. SONs are nice and light, but you pay for it, and the SP hubs are even lighter though there may be QA problems with them (I had one smoke after ~5000km, but I’ve got another one on my sw8 fixie that I got used and have put about the same milage on w/o any issues.) The one Sram (a d7) I had was reliable but it developed an annoying vibration at 15mph which wouldn’t go away until I got up to 20mph (this was also on my fixie, so I almost never got it over 20mph and had to deal with the goddamn thing buzzing its way down the road for 9 hours on brevets.)
I’d say get a Shimano; they’re cheap enough so that if you get a bad die roll and have something fail you can replace it without too much pain, but don’t have the QA problems of the SPs or vibration problems of the Sram (rebadged Sanyo?) hubs.
Newest member of baroque light crü:
My 6 month old Cyo Premium started flickering constantly and doesn’t seem to be running at full intensity (conveniently this started at dusk on an overnight ride).
Just occurred to me that the standlight is not working either, but the connected Secula is still constantly bright.
Maybe just a bad/loose capacitor in the Cyo?
Could be a bad rectifier and you’re only getting half of the AC cycle.
Good point.
Have an Eyc to hook up to rule out hub as well…may also try to just toss it over to Euroland24 as warranty before I open up the light
Since the Nü Guy Thread has moved on to discussing saunas, I think I’m cleared to post here?
I’ve got a different variant of the Luxos freakout. Starting months ago (with no obvious event to cause it), when I turn the light off using either the remote switch or the switch on the light, the stand light stays on very faintly (less bright than the normal stand light). It stays on for days. It’s like there’s a slightly leaky solid-state relay. No apparent water in the remote switch.
It’s not a big deal compared to the other possible Luxos freakout symptoms, just puzzling. When camping, I hang my hat over the light to black it out.
Tell me about your favorite sauna.
Relentless! Not a lot of sauna experience. I sweat enough when cycling/running, why do it sitting in a little room?
We still need to know what kinda land mammals intestines your bars were wrapped with as well
what kind of hat are you using on the light?
Giro peloton cap.
Catgut? Nah, I think it’s some Brooks tape wrapped over old cork/foam tape. It lasts forever. If I replace the ergo bars (and I should), the Brooks tape can probably get re-wrapped.
Mine started doing the same thing in the last year. I think it’s daytime running lights, not the standlight. The switch no longer shuts them off. I’ve thought about opening it up and trying to disconnect them, but not sure it’s worth it. The only time it really bugs me is when it’s locked up at night. I don’t like the bike drawing attention to itself.

Sounds like you need a hat.
Good call on the daytime running lights - it’s the two LEDs mounted near the top of the lamp that stay lit.
I encased my Luxos U switch with Sugru, pretty happy with the results. When my light first freaked out I popped the soft button of the switch and saw a drop of water sitting on the circuit board. The Luxos has been through at least 3 revisions trying to solve the water intrusion problems.
And that worked for you?
