So far it’s been fine. It’s not pretty.
Here’s the water in the switch
The H.R Giger solution
Printer is running. Been making a bunch of upgrades for it. Also ran a rack boss rack light mount for the townie. Will be moving to bag rack clips next.
First prototype of a mount that clicks onto the end of your saddle rails and takes a Toplight Mini. Still needs some fine tuning.
super like.
Have been meaning to drill the cantle plate on a cambium to mount one but this would be even better and let me use a flite/etc (or swap saddles even)
was hoping to do something like this, but the test cambium I got is the “all weather” model and doesn’t have a riveted nameplate
I mean, the frame appears to be some fiber-reinforced plastic instead of aluminum so I can still do it, but it seems less trick now
how does the all weather version feel vs the regular, if you’ve tried both? I’m considering picking one up if it’s close to the original
I just got this saddle, and never rode the normal one, but this one has kind of a tacky top (I think it’s rubber impregnated nylon instead of canvas?). Hoping that goes away once it gets some dust and dirt on it.
gave it a shot since they’re about $60 on ebay right now (search cambium test)
tacky? yeah, the canvas kind was pretty smooth from the jump, curious to hear how the all weather breaks in. I was sold on the C17 after I installed it, barely adjusted it, and rode 200k on it the next day - it was the most comfortable saddle I’ve ever used. I’m thinking it might be a good idea to snag one of the all weather ones before the cold and rainy season here replaces the hot and rainy season.
Yo @drwelby how about a fizik rear saddle clip for dynamo light?
siqq
Sure, send me the dimensions of the clip receiver.
There’s some designs out there, wouldn’t be hard to adapt. What light? Toplight Mini? Or do you want to hang a Secula?
I have a secula in my partsbin but I think this will be on gofaster bike so maybe that little b&m or Schmidt one?
Now that I’ve seen a bunch of these tiny lights in the wild I can say that I am unimpressed with their visibility. Probably fine for a go fast bike mostly ridden in the day but I would never put one of these on a bike I frequently ride at night.
Forgot to mention, totally stealth proselytized a nice guy on my commute yesterday. He was VERY interested in my bike so we rode together for about 4 miles since we had nearby destinations.
He had some really obnoxious flashy lights on and I managed to convince him that he should get a dynamo setup. By the time he turned off to go home his lights were set to steady instead of rave mode.
Were they B&Ms or those silly Supernovas that don’t have any optics?
The B&M / Schmidt ones with itty-bitty fresnel lens. There just isn’t enough surface area from what I’ve seen.
Should 3d print a lens that goes on a fender with full coverage.
Very conflicted on this. Would love another cambium but the text is some next-level dorkin’ lol
