Non-biblical c-c-c-combo breaker

what’s the preferred bulk dyno wire? seems hard to find the proper stuff on amazon in 22 or 24awg. need like 100ft.

I do well with speaker wire.

Is it cuz you need a really long length for the bullit? Or as has been mentioned earlier chopping cords off DC adapters is pretty perfect for this application.

Ha ha. Yeah, speaker wire for me too.

We got a big box of free lights that had the leads cut short. Ended up ordering a 65ft roll of 22awg “led wiring” from Uncle Jeff.

Been a minute since anyone asked about the IQ-XS. Anybody using one of these or have opinions vs. like a Cyo Premium Senso Plus? I want something to replace a dying IQ-X and I’m not going with the same light cuz standlight is not great. Might just get a luxos u, idk.

I get brake shudder with dynamos on my Merckx. Am I doing something wrong? It’s worse now with the SP vs the Shimano.

Toe my brake pads in? Squats?

I don’t get any buzz on the SP, though. Which is great.

I’m using one. The beam isn’t as bright as my EDelux but is brighter than my Eyc. It’s good enough that I happily bombed down Page Mill Road in the dark with it. For the price, I have no complaints.

but what that standlight do?

No complaints from me but it’s also the only
Modern modern light I’ve owned

have you seen the standlight on the iq-xl? it hardly counts. also looking at that or the cyo senso plus and the xs sure fits the aesthetic of this bike better

alright, y’know what, i’m bored and i have nothing better to do with my time so why not. TL;DR i was very wrong and the IQ-XS standlight appears to be poop.

Procedure: rode around the block to charge the cap then rode back up my driveway and pointed at a dark fence. Phone photos so it’s auto-exposing and white-balancing and everything, very non-scientific. Tried to get a photo of the full-bright beam as well as the standlight, although the former is much harder than the latter because you have to be moving and my dark fence was right after a sharp turn.

Edelux II moving:

Edelux II Standlight:

IQ-XS moving:

IQ-XS standlight:

note the (very dim) bright patch waaaay up the fence. why is the only illuminated area above where the beam cutoff is???

Just for comparison, Eyc moving:

yeah it’s a shitty picture and it turns out I have the light aimed too low but I didn’t care enough to try again with this light. Note the super-narrow beam on the Eyc. Standlight on the Eyc did not noticeably illuminate the fence so I didn’t bother with a photo.

Weird thing is when viewed off-angle from the front of the bike, the Edelux II and IQ-XS looked semi-similar brightness on the standlight - but the IQ-XS standlight just doesn’t project at all, it’s very diffuse.

we’ve probably done this topic a few times, but how hard would it be to just put a bigger capacitor in a lamp, or in the line headed to the lamp? Is there a lot of control equipment that comes along with it? Are big capacitors sorta explodey under normal cycling conditions?
