I don’t know what is wrong with me specifically but I had a really hard time with speedplays. Like I’d think I was clipped in and then I’d pull out. After a few rides I said fuck it because I’d never trust them

The problem with 2-sided power meter pedals is that if you clip into the wrong side you get negative power numbers and clearly that’s not right

The ability to flip pedals sounds handy for people who are curious how much power they are generating on the upstroke. Up to now I don’t believe that’s been possible.

I know you’re joking, but for anyone not following the humor, the pedals spin independently of the strain gauges. The force vectors in all directions are summed to derive a power figure. Doesn’t matter which side up anything is.

It matters which side is up. If you put the power into the bottom of the pedal it goes up. If you put too much power into the up pedal then the down pedal stays down. The power meter can tell you why this is happening. That’s why the power meter has to read up power and down power.
