It’s not a costume it’s a chosen uniform. I have one too. Old ass jeans I won’t wear anywhere but work and usually a baseball tee or a select number of tees I don’t care about. In the winter that’s topped with a denim vest. Then on top of that I have my shop apron. Which usually has tape measure, note pad, red, blue, and black sharpies, pen, mechanical pencil, scribe, 6” rule, a small file, 2 deburring tools and feeler gauges. It’s just enough stuff to get rough measurements on stuff when someone comes into the shop and needs me to look at something without hauling my box out or running back 10 times. I’d love to be able to carry my 6” starrett calipers in there but I’m too afraid they’ll fall out and I’m NOT gonna be a caliper holster dude. That’s too much.
Leave the bling in the box and get some cheapie verniers to drop on the floor.

And attach it how via magnet so it can collect a fuck ton of steel dust? Edit: maybe a sewn in magnet to the apron would work.

I’ve got a field uniform that’s like that, but I don’t wear it in the office.
I do because my office is next to the shop and if I changed every time I went back and forth I’d loose hours everyday. I do take the apron off to take a piss or a shit though.
Ah yeah my fieldwork sites are generally not close to the office. Very much different.
Not anymore, but I miss it. Need to get back into that game.
Yesterday I was riding my local poorly maintained dirt road and I crossed paths with a dad on a mountain bike riding with two little kids on tiny electric motorcycles. They seemed to be having a blast.

It may not work for everyone but I think a tandem is a better solution than an e-bike for bridging the gap of “partner 1 is an avid cyclist and partner 2 is not”

For individuals, this obviously doesn’t apply. I do wonder if I would have the same respect for cycling and my physical accomplishments on a bicycle, if I was on an e-bike. Or would I always feel the need to “qualify” them, like “I rode 200mi (but it was on an e-bike)”
that would be impressive, esp since with ebike battery capacity you’d probably be humping an 80lb bike up and down hills by yourself for at lease the last half of the ride!
