tbh this kinda makes the aliexpress dt china hubs sound still very appealing. though i have no clue how many things you need to press bearings through to replace on those

EXP went to a bigger diameter for the ratchet to fit more teeth, where this is exactly the same design as traditional DT but thinner in profile

OneUp Hubs use a OneUp-specific ratchet and spring. You can use a OneUp Ratchet in your DT Swiss™ hub (which requires an additional spacer), but you cannot use a DT Swiss™ Ratchet in a OneUp Hub.
sure sure, not actually using DT ratchets, just commenting on the “single spring like hugi from the 90s” aspect of the design
(also I thought DTSwiss EXP used the same ratchets as old two-spring DTSwiss? EDIT: oh no, there’s “oversize” EXP OS now.)
I have an old hugi on the back of gf bike that I don’t upgrade cause it’s so loud it makes it easy to keep track of where she is behind me
WTF there’s now five different versions varying on multiple axes
“EXP” means that the hub ratchet is not just fixed but threaded into the hubshell, still blocking the bearing but nested around it to increase the bearing spacing — but implicitly this also makes it very difficult for DIY aftermarket tooth count upgrades
“DEG” is the one that’s truly oversized with 90 teeth, and has the DS bearing easy to get out, but the oversizing makes it XD/MS only

Whoop forgot this detail, for some reason in my head it was in a splined pocket in the hub, just without the spring behind it.
ah yeah I remember lol’ing a little that they went back to the twin-spring design for the big ratchet.

Only bummer is no more new 32H road hubs from DT. Gotta hit the secondary / used markets for that now.

Yeah. Was way TMI for me. I would be wanting to be paid to talk about something for that amount of time if it was my podcast. There has to be something going on. The angry asian has gone so I get the impression the crowd funding model is not able to support them fully.
