I know, but campy isn’t a market driver anymore.
This is more a question about frame design for future bikes
just make sure it has UDH
besides, future you is going to need reasons to get another frame/bike after the next one…
We already know it’s going to be full wireless.
And there isn’t a chance in hell Shimano can leverage brands to abandon UDH.
The biggest possible “innovation” is a UDH frame compatible “hanger” that replaces the b-link. But even that’s a long shot since the new GRX wireless deleted the b-link.
Shimano isn’t going to be able to dictate frame spec ever again.
Build your next bike to work with AXS and make sure it’s UDH. Whatever Shimano comes up with will work.

Exactly - the one prototype bike I’ve seen that had something that could be a new “standard” from Shimano was an early Open Upper Concept gravel bike, and it was a new type of front derailleur mount. On a gravel bike in 2026.
This is extra hilarious given how long it took them to update the current GRX offering, let alone the 13s update that’s supposed to be coming.

I’ve been saying for years that Shimano should have just pushed e-type mount into the gravel space. If this is a new derder mounting standard (and not just a chain spotter) it’s peak Shimano to pull a new standard out of their ass yet again instead of sticking with something know.

had an acquaintance strip out the ratchets on these hubs twice in under 200 miles. he’s a bigger dude and definitely a strong cyclist, but makes me wary

This would be a little out of character for Shimano TBH. I think they actually learned something from the aluminum deep spline HG debacle.
A unified standard across all road and gravel cassettes would make microspline the obvious choice since they are actively using it and already got all big wheel players to support it.
But who knows.
Shimano loves a good fubar.

I was just going to say that if they’re anything like the dropper I have from them, I wouldn’t touch them with a ten foot pole.
Maybe you shouldn’t since you can destroy any and everything.
But OneUp posts are usually pretty dang solid and easily rebuildable.

I haven’t even abused the post I’ve got. It’s been on my MTB which I’ve hardly touched My main complaint is that you have to remove the saddle to add air and it seems to leak down in a few months and won’t return all the way.
Weird, I own multiple OneUp droppers that have no issues, and many of my friends do too. I’ve never heard anything bad about them before and never had any bad experiences.
