Yeowtch. Per Tarck metals experts, the darker areas indicate it has been partially cracked for a while now, right?

Damn I hope dude is ok and that collarbone is the worst if it.

Can we tag the tarck law talking person in our posts and claim attorney-client privilege?

i was so pleased with this purchase from last summer that i bought two more just now

these are awesome. my favorite version of this thing is the Outdoor Research Echo hoody, it got crappy for a few years when they took away the thumb loops but now they’re back. somehow it’s even lighter and airier than the patagonia variety and dries instantly

These hoodies are exactly what I need for summer parking lot duty. Would never think to look for a hoodie for high exposure high heat activities!

Also consumed, thanks for the heads up! Thing has the potential to pay for itself in one summer if I can cut my sunscreen budget by about a third

Yeah they’re totally nuts! Weigh less than your average cotton tshirt. I wear one of these pretty much constantly on summer biking, climbing, hiking, and windsurfing adventures, legitimately feels cooler than wearing a jersey or short-sleeve shirt cuz arms and neck not getting baked.

One consideration with the OR model is that it’s got a lot less UPF than the Patagonia one, UPF 15 vs 50. That’s totally fine for me but fairer-skinned folks would do well to get the heavier and denser-woven Patagonia.

the patagonia one doesn’t have visibly sewn seams so it’s nice because can wear to a restaurant or something like that…if those still exist

Nice. At least it happened 2mi from home instead of in the woods somewhere.

Yowza, what gave out there? I’ve got a few thousand miles on a pair of those myself

I guess there’s a bearing or something at the end that I’ve been neglecting, it just blew up while climbing a hill near the house.

I’d say there’s probably like 4000+mi on these with about zero maintenance, so maybe give your set a tune up?

edit: this bike has also seen more than it’s fair share of pedal-strikes, fwiw.

Shimano pedals are amazingly easy to service. just take out the spindle, squirt grease in the pedal, put it back in, and wipe off the excess. it’s great!

Speedplay you just squirt it right in. Don’t even have to take out the spindle. Just saying.
I don’t know anyone that’s bothered to service a shimano pedal.

Yikes. On the bright side, you’re well on your way to a set of AeroLite pedals.

My first pair broke just like this. Once spindle felt way tighter than the other.

The warranty replacements are still going strong.
