My assumption was that everyone is just over torquing them because it’s their first pair of carbon bars

I’ve seen this on other brands as well. Shakes slipping around when they’re properly torqued, someone will tighten it more, slips more, tightened more, then crack. There doesn’t seem to be a consensus between the makers of shakes and bars on how they should fit together and what the maximum clamping torque should be.

Do you guys have crescent rolls? They’re one of those accidently vegan things here. Can wrap them around vegan breakfast sausages for a super easy vegan pigs in a blanket.

Is it reasonable to guess that 4nm+ grip paste is safe for carbon contact point components?

ATMO the bike industry has fucked itself with these fake torque ratings and grittygreases

Oh yeah I’m not an expert on this stuff, but I recall there being a good case that torque in the abstract isn’t a great predictor of the strength of a connection. Grease vs no grease vs grip vs dry lubricant and so on.

I’m mostly curious about basic failsafe guidelines for the hobby mechanic, if such things are generalizable

Don’t get me started on torque specs for hardware that has fully cured thread locker smeared all over the threads… Campy BSA cups wont even fully thread into a frame using their torque spec until you gouge all the thread locker off.

I don’t think we do. Just googled them. They look easy to do tho.

Yup. I hadn’t even considered they could possibly be vegan until a friend mentioned it.

Happening in oz too

Isn’t this what got Samsung phablets banned from airplanes?

Man, a battery explosion on an airplane is one of the scariest things I can think of.
