It doesn’t look like it at first, but the entire bottom half of the lever body comes off in two pieces exposing the shifter guts and the offending squid.

Fubar indeed. How’d it happen?
I was riding down a bumpy section of road pretty fast then suddenly I was skidding. I think a loose rock got sucked in and caught the bolt holding the stay just right.
this is why i still put the safety first quick release tabs on the front fender even though it looks less cool and is even sometimes trickier on the install.
glad you’re alright. did you put the fubar sticker on before or after tho? i’m about to keep one in my tool kit for just such occasions
That’s a Park Tool there, yeah?
Time to get you a Pedro’s.
This is a blessing.
parked itself straight into the garbage
finished the job with my crank bros 69 in 1 multitool breaker
AKA the only good thing crank bros makes.
I just did the exact same thing to mine last week.
Well my freebie multitool from #frostbike finally bit the French dust after like 5 years and dozens of trips and regular ride adjustments. Thru bolt broke while taking the driveside pedal off. Was able to pull the crank to finish packing the bike.
ACS PAWS HD freewheel 'sploded (the expensive one). Emailed them to ask for a new pawl spring because I can’t be bothered to try and find one that fits.
I was surprised to find nothing resembling a seal inside this “sealed bearing” freewheel.
Replaced with a White ENO freewheel. Fourth freewheel on this bike in 1.5yr.
Wtf are you doing? Freewheel are supposed to last through 4 bikes, not the other way around.
yeah for real. i have freewheels and freehubs that are like…multiple decades old. does he live on a desert mountaintop and coast down in the searing heat every day? does he work at a carwash and store his bike…in the carwash? is he accidentally using isopropyl alcohol instead of chain lube and dripping it all onto the freewheel?
What about cheap Taiwan bmx freewheels?
you’re telling me…
1: pawl cracked, disintegrated, and chewed up the guts
2: flopped to fixed for a month this winter, when i flipped back it was so seized that i removed it using only a chainwhip
3: see photo
to be fair there were about 2k miles of daily all-weather use on each of the first two, and for the third, ACS says
“It has been a problematic model and is discontinued”
Found my newish toobless charger in the kids room…and these pieces scattered across the floor.
Anyone know how this goes back together? I think it must still be missing a piece because there doesn’t seem to be anything to make it seal around the valve stem
This is the closest I’ve found so far
