what model is the pump? A couple of those piece look like the came from the check valve at the bottom of a Joeblow.

FYI: Oldest kid told me finally the parts shot across the room, so if you do check it out be aware there is some tension behind it
sounds like the kids should be finding all the pieces, researching the assembly diagrams on the internet, and sitting down with you to learn to fix the thing they broke
