My dentist literally owns a candy store in the neighborhood.
that’s how it’s done! old school!
not enough skid patches?
I had a couple of sudden braking events in the past couple weeks that did them in
there’s another whole tread under there–just peel off the first one.
That is a real force trauma to that rim.
I managed a smaller dent on my first ride on the dreadnought, which is the first time in quite a while.
damn that’s still holding air?
yeah it was holding but burping some more out with every rotation. I rode it for a little longer til it was flat flat. tbh if my tire was not dry (as I discovered) it might’ve been rideable all the way to the car
A good reminder to top off your sealant, folx (myself included). Really doubt the dreadnought has any coz giveaway bike. But no going to garage now since it is sweltering (for Bellingham).
Took the rear wheel off my cargo bike to replace the brake rotor, decided to wipe it down a bit, and d’oh
There’s at least half a dozen nipples that look about as bad… this wheel is toast right? 36h Alex Adventurer 2, do I need more spokes or just a rebuild with a different rim?
I just had a wheel I built with an Adventurer 2 come back with the rim bed fully separating from the brake track in several places. Only about a year of use, properly tensioned, and no impact damage. I would rebuild with a different rim rather that trying to up the spoke count.
This wheel came with the bike, which I bought lightly used. I’ve got maybe 5000 fat guy miles on it, about 3000 of that is electrified fat dad bike miles. No clue how long it’s been this way but I suppose it has lived a hard life…
Universal had the wheel I needed with a 36h Cliffhanger for $130 so I ordered it. Might still get the spare hub rebuilt but wanted to start with the cheap/hopefully fast option
I’d rebuild with a new rim.
Adventurer 2 is the only rim I’ve tried on the rear of my cargo that hasn’t broken in exactly that way.
One of the many great things about the A2 is that it costs like $35! Buy four for the price of one cliffhanger and be set for life!
You are convincing me that having a spare wheel isn’t a terrible idea!
A spare wheel is always a good idea.
Rebuild the A2 and you’ll be set for when the cliffhanger breaks.
Same experience with a few customers. haven’t checked my own but I hardly use em.
Guess you can’t expect the most rigorous QC on a $35 rim lol
