Say it ain't so: The Assploded Bike Parts Picture Thread.

Oh! There’s a threaded bit on the driveside axle end that was pretty loose. Tightening it takes up all of the slop.

A bit of blue Loctite and maybe I’m finished?

Well it’s a velocity rim so it was bound to happen eventually.

yeah I think I’m gonna give up on tubeless and get a cr18. I can’t find any other silver 20” 32h options

yep the BMX stuff is all either 36h or 28h

I have an Alienation Malice rim on the front of my bakfiets. It’s hella tubeless and is a great rim, it’s been going strong for years. Mine is gold and silver was an option. I dunno about hole count though. Mine is 36.

Edit: Beautiful polished silver might be worth getting a new hub for lol

yeah i currently have a nice shiny silver SP hub that works great. but it’s 32h. i think there’s a silver 36h shimano in the parts bin but they’re so much uglier… plus lacing a 36h 20” wheel with a big ol dynamo hub sounds like a headache.

It’s no harder than lacing a 32 atmo.

Also, I wouldn’t hesitate to abandon tubeless on a cargo bike. Tubes with sealant is the way.

You’ll just have to choose your spoke wrench wisely. A regular spokey wrench won’t fit between the spokes on a 20" 36H wheel without the sides being cut down so it can actually be turned.

I use one of these and it fit fine.

Weird. I tried the DT version on the 20" dyno wheel I had a while back and it was very much no-go.

Every once in a while I come across these pictures of my cousin’s bike after he got hit by a car. I can’t believe he walked away from this crash. His helmet was broken like like 12 places and honestly he hasn’t been the same since, but he did walk away (on a broken ankle/foot).

Edge 510 finally became inconvenient to use. I think I bought this back in 2012?

I recently retired my edge 200 cos it was virtually impossible to upload rides. Still has epic battery life too….

edge 200 was probably the worst electronic product i’ve ever owned. you want to use this GPS device to navigate yourself? please wait between 5 and 20 minutes for it to acquire satellites. there is no indication of when this process will be complete. if you move one single inch during the process, it will fail. do you wish to charge it with a charge cord that suits more than this device? fuck you. perhaps you might want to see any other identifying feature on a map other than a line with your arrow on it. well, find a different product, fuckhead.

All true, but I never used it for navigation. For recording rides (particularly longer ones) it was bloody brilliant. The main reason I stopped using it is that it wouldn’t upload directly to anything: had to connect it to a laptop and download the .fit file then upload that to Garmin connect then sync it to Strava. Even then it would only be recognised by certain laptops, and that changed from time to time. Was just basically unusable at the end.

18 miles into an attempted century my friend got a very blunt bolt through his tire. 3 holes in total and it wouldn’t hold after 3 dynaplugs and some bacon. ended up tubing it and riding another 40 before calling it. continues to affirm my distrust of ultradynamicos
