I suppose in this case the fender would have to come off. And at that point I think I would prefer to pull the fork.
I don’t actually remember. The rack and fork were both custom made to work together, and it went down in the context of a fork swap.
Oops. Pretty sure this was user error. I switched those cranks pretty late at night.

Someone forgot to tighten the pinch bolts.

Speaking from experience, not tightening the pinch bolts to the requisite 15 Nm.
I had to unfuck my cranks in the woods so I could pedal out when I did that.

When I worked at a college outdoor center, we had a lunch bike with square taper cranks 90deg. to each other. It was obnoxious, but never had to lock it up on campus.
Also was set up SS with one DT shifter set up to operate the rear brake.

Clipped a rock. Where the pins are the metal is around 1mm thick. Which means one little hit and boom. Some things can be too light.
