As a tire flexes when it rotates, friction between molecules causes energy to be converted to heat . This is known as hysteresis loss
Those were the words that came out of Josh Poertner’s mouth in the video above.

Killing it over here. Just noticed that the wire bead Horizon that I set up tubeless is not officially tubeless compatible. That tire came on a bike that DID have tubeless compatible rims, though. WTF.
Happened to me too…put a few hundred miles and then one blew off the rim on the stand. Lied to WTB and got it warrantied.
Hysteresis is the dependence of the state of a system on its history.
The term is applied here because tires are extremely elastic systems producing internal friction, the coefficient of which is dependent not just on the spring rate but also its damping over time with dynamic feedback effects.
Yep, and if you leave it on there long enough the insides will dissolve into a seriously unholy mess. 5 days at 18 hours a day did it for me. The reason I was using it was because the rear was a stans, and the wire bead DID fit. I used the actual tubeless WTB Nano on the front because the rim was NOT a stans. This info about stans incompatability was on the WTB site in 2016.
Well, I guess we can add the Stan’s/Specialized combo to the “won’t fit” list.
Old Stan’s or new? They definitely altered their rims a bit a few generations back to work better with the somewhat congealing tire bead standards.
2013-ish? Sun-Ringle Charger Pro 27.5 wheelset in traditional non-boost QR flavor.
update: put in a tube.
Redundant Q
Fastest 650x45-48 that isn’t a gumwall
Did Vittoria stop making the Terreno Zero in 650 or is it just permanently sold out everywhere?
finale: de-tubed, juiced up and fully inflated.
IRC Boken Plus are pretty quick. Also I think Challenge Strada Bianca is available somewhere around that sizeway
I have ample stock of the Zeros in stock.
Maxxis Receptor “feels” the same.
IRC Boken “feels” faster.
lol missed the no gumwall part of that query last night. Though I think I bought the above because the gumwall was supposed to be more supple than the all-black version
Conti Terraspeeds are nice.
A 43 degree commute has me thinking about new tires that don’t have spikes. Which 26”x2” pavement tire should I get?
The only problem with those, I’ve found, is that they don’t do the reach around for tires bigger than 44 mm or so
Resist Nomad? Their 26" tire is too big for my tastes, but ymmv.
