Also…WTH I used my calipers today before work and I just spent 20 minutes trying to find them. Feel like an absolute crazy person.
Han Solo Pass tires always come like that!
Cush Core coming at you with a tool that will help you set tight tires. Bead Bro - Cushcore
I want to try this.
at 12.95 you can’t go wrong!
I’m about to try mounting Conti GP5ks on some rims that the factory made with the slightly questionable ORD of 623.5 or so; I may be in the market for this tool by mid-afternoon
I would like bead bro to be in stock so that I can try it
are these the tires that were covered in sand or whatever from massive weaping?
all the more reason to favor tire casings that are about their business. post-supplesse life is really much better for tires over 30mm if you ride with any gusto whatsoever
what’s your 650x48 slick reco? the reen standard casing has a wider acceptable pressure range than anything else i’ve tried but tbh my favorite ever was the grand rando blue label. it has enough substance to it to have the support i needed by virtue of a ton of rubber being the only “heavy duty” thing about it
i’m really un-versed in the more bespoke offerings because i always had heavy subsidies on more boring options. i’ve been rolling on teravail ramparts for general city/occasional wiss use and have been well enough satisfied, and this is with their “light and supple” casing option which is just middle-of-the-road for the use case as far as i can tell. i’ll probably buy them again in the durable casing option since i’m going across north philly 2x a day 5x a week these days
Yes. They’re like 5 years old lol.
And in fact I was trying to get it to seal to go to beach. Had to take the other jones.
the durable (i think) is one of the few tires i flatted riding across north philly daily for years.
scratch that though what’s the good 48 light dirt tire? finally starting to find the dirt that you can link up with roads here (narrator: he wasn’t looking)
GK Slick in that sizeway is good now. They changed sometime late last year to a lighter and more supple production. I’ve had half a dozen through my hands this Spring and they’re 60-80 grams lighter than spec and take like 10-15% more pressure to 15% sag.
But… that’s a panaracer
hmm i’m wary. my experience with gk 48 slick was so bad that i felt bad giving them away
I’m in the market for tires that size. Do I dare?
So is that tire you took off. Just get some IRCs. They won’t be as “supple” but they will go fast and not fuck up.
what is my 650x48 knobby adjacent huckleberry? for the ditherer with fenders still attached. i’ve basically ignored this market segment entirely but i think i’m ready now. roads here are roads, and i think there’s enough mixed stuff with a few miles of road in between to justify some bzzz
