There’s also this thing in the “yet another redundant Panaracer tire” category:
Seems to come in two versions: one has a siped tread in the center, the other doesn’t.

it’s tubeless compatible because they wrote the words “tubeless compatible” on the sidewall
Hey they have sweet black Honjos
Do they claim gumwall is less durable in their copy and then in the next sentence say so we made them all gumwall?
I think they’re saying the opposite, that their gumwalls are stronger than normal sidewalls?
The thing about simworks is that they didn’t hire a native English speaker for their English site. I think they used Google translate.
Sure seems that way.
yeah that looks like a real gumwall, as in it’s coated in a lot of extra rubber
not naked tissue like Compass gets their suppless from
The gravelking sidewalls are interesting in that they very low friction and as such are much more cut resistant than the center tread rubber. They also act as both sidewall reinforcement and reinforcement to the whole tire as the layer continues under the tread. With only adding a small amount of weight and stiffness to the tire. Here’s a 700cx38 example but the other “good” sizes appear to be the same.
The Simworks tires are nuts. They’re all super heavy around 40-60% heavier than their gravelking equivalent. Must be like riding iron-shod wagon wheels.
“Good” sizes?
The 700cx32 and 650bx48 are turds.
the hive mind seems to think that 650x48 is awful (can confirm) and 650x42 is pretty great (smooth configuration for both)
The 650b X 42 seem to be one of the good ones.
What about the 700x40 in that goofy green color?
My only experience was riding them around a QT parking lot and poking them with my fingers. Seemed fine, about the same as the gk slicks I was riding.
Yep, had the GKs 48s on for a long time. Switched to Compass/RH Switchbacks (both wept sealant like crazy, one refused to consistently set up), switched to Ramparts (set up using a canister-style floor pump and have been great [would definitely recommend]). Get the Ramparts.
Y’all like the GK 650b x 42?
I’m looking to size down from 47/48mm tires and I want something that’s suppleish, not a flat magnet, tubeless, and black wall.
right now I’m running Compass SBH EL and they are way too floppy; there’s like a half-psi range that they ride acceptably.
Yeah, I’m liking the GK 42mm. They set up tubeless really easily with a floorpump, but I’m having a bit of trouble with them losing pressure over a few days. Think I need to give them a good shake to distribute sealant better.
They ride almost as nicely as standard tubed BSPs. I tiny bit squirmier in the corners when the pressure gets a bit lower, but the grip and cush are both really good. I’ve only got a couple hundred commuting km on them so far, but impressions are really good, and they were essentially half the price of BSPs, don’t think I’ll be going back to Runny Arse.
challenge strada bianca 650x46 tubeless look interesting, but they’re not in stock anywhere. sup’s bike has GK 42 slicks, they sealed up pretty well but I haven’t ridden them myself.
355g?
I think they’re made in Thailand by Lion just like Vittoria and Specialized, so their tubeless tires might be better than Panaracer’s best cheesecloth
I did cut the sidewalls of both 25mm Vittoria tubeless tires on normal gravel, but who would have thought tubeless open corsas are still corsas?
